You are kidding right? Canada was invaded multiple times and destroyed in the Battle of York. Sure the British put up a good fight and Canada defended the seiges kind of. The only battles of 1812 between Canadians and the US were all tactical victories for the US.

With the current administration though I would take Canada over the Us. We don’t deserve our troops on the front lines...

Where I live in BC I know quite a few people/business that have just said fuck it and stayed open.

My one buddy runs a gym, straight said he can’t afford to shut down and they can fine him and try to shut him down if they want. Another gym in my town has 0 covid rules whatsoever I believe, just a limit on how many people at a time and it’s fairly large.

People need to start standing up for themselves and keeping their business open. It’s funny how they think shutting down business is going to “save lives” when these shutdowns have harmed more than covid ever would’ve unless you’re an unhealthy slob or old as fuck on your deathbed anyway.

And my sister (high ranking doctor) and numerous others work in healthcare and all have said the same thing....yes, it's real. Yes its dangerous to SOME. But the entire thing is overblown .

My sister has had the vaccines but when asked about whether shed allow her kids to have them her exact words - "no chance. Not now."

I bought about a month ago and got it for about 20k under asking. It’s a small town about 2 hours east of Quebec City, and I’m outside the town. It’s still affordable there but it won’t stay that way. It’s getting crazy everywhere unfortunately. In my case it’s my retirement house so it’s the last time I will be moving.

Yeah, 99% of covid warriors fall into the 'work from home' category, financially unaffected or in many cases better off than they ever have been (no money spent on transport to and from the office, more time with the wife and kids etc). They would love this to continue forever as long as their finances aren't hit, the second they start seeing a decrease in their income they'll change their tune.

My wife bought the house before i met her, in 2014 for 160k. Its worth 400k now. No justification either.

There is a justification, but it's not a good one. Bank lending for pre-existing assets raises asset prices. As long as people keep borrowing money from banks to buy assets, asset prices will go up until there is a bubble and it pops. The only real solution is to change the banking industry and have banks lend for business creation purposes only and have lenders be something like Lending Club or Prosper. Asset prices won't inflate, business will grow and there will be no inflation.

I guess this is a necessary step. The ICUs are packed and from a healthcare standpoint, the province is in crisis mode. Many 1 or 2 people rooms in the ICU are squeezing into 2 to 3. Many OR or recovery nurses are taking on the role of an ICU. If you know anything about being an ICU nurse, it's highly specialized and is not something you casually sub in for. Traumas, myocardial infarctions, strokes, surgical emergencies won't be able to get the care they need with no beds or nursing coverage. Non-ICU doctors are subbing into the ICU. They aren't doing this because of their interest in ICU as they're already specialized; they are doing this because they are stipulated to by their hospital and/or the goodness of their hearts. Good luck getting a central line or intubated by one of these non-ICU doctors lol.

Its easy when you're on Sherdog to paint doctors and politicians as wanting TV time, money and power, but honestly it wasn't Doug Ford, Trudeau or any public health doctor that caused this 3rd wave. It was the people of Ontario not adhering to public health advice. If you, yourself, advocate for taking off your mask or visiting friends in their homes, sure you may be lucky to only be mildly symptomatic or asymptomatic. But if that behaviour is done on a population level, it adds up. Eventually people get sick. And now its not the 80+ who are getting sick. Its the younger than 50 years crowd (some even in their 20s). Non-emergency but still necessary procedures and visits are being delayed because of this.

And yes it sucks the small business and many are being hurt by this financially. Lives are being ruined. Its just unfortunate that there is no other choice. The people of Ontario may not have caused this virus but they did play a big role in the 2nd and 3rd waves/lockdowns. People decided they'd rather congregate with their friends than protect small business and/or the lives of their neighbouts. They had the choice of protecting BOTH lives AND small busineses but decided they'd rather have one full lockdown after another.
