Gokhan Saki looked like he had never faced a southpaw in his life

yeah, but he didn't get KO'd because he threw a flurry, he got KO'd because he threw a slow ass leg kick with no setup.
exactly, who cares if he hasn't been really active in the kickboxing scene....For someone with his experience and suppose caliber of striking..He should have never thrown such a lazy kick with poor judgement of distance.
He looked amateur af, end of story.

It looks bad because Cruz was saying how saki said in his interview with him "I see a million holes in his stand up!!! He's never seen nothing like this!! Ahshdjfj". Then he goes out there and gets his shit pushed in. Lmao. This is a straight up embarrassment for kickboxing.

Not really. Some styles translate, some doesn't. Adesanya isn't as accomplised as Saki and does better then he does in mma, Darren Till isn't as accomplished ( or rather not acomplised at all ) and does better then Saki does. different sport after all.

You guys need to relax, that was his third mma fight.

the two other guys are much younger + more exp.

I'm not implying anything in my post other than some styles work better for mma than others. He may recover from that lose, he may not. idk.

saki looked terrible in his debut? i dont think so. he looked very very good but he gassed that was the only issue.
He gassed in less than a round and was starting to get tagged before his power saved him.
That was against a weak opponent too
I wasn't impressed at all

Look, if your striking doesn't translate to MMA, I don't wanna hear dumbass comments about how amazing his striking is. In mma, it is nothing special because mma fighters for the most part aren't gonna let him strike the way he did in K1, where he was also able to juice freely.

Tony Ferguson is a better BJJ fighter in MMA than Roger Gracie because he is actually able to use it. Roger couldn't do shit. Why is that? Because his BJJ didn't translate to MMA.

u talk shit all the time.. the techniques are the same, how they translate into the mma cage is more a psychological thing and how u are able to translate it. Jab is a jab, it stays a jab in a ring and also stays a jab in the cage and it stays a jab in the street. A boxer will have a better jab but how he will translate it into a cage is a different story because he’s used to fight in the ring.. but that doesn’t make a jab ineffective... But u literally say a jab is ineffective now... and that’s wrong... which is affected not in Jab technique at all but many other contents... one of them is the psycholgic or different conditioning or another rules etc. That’s not a martial arts technique thing, that’s a different sport and how u able to translate thing.

U can still have a great jab but how u use it in a Cage is a different story which is affected by other circumstances, not the martial art. same with rear nacked choke for example... and all the techniques. They stay the same. There are many other factors. U do so that outside the cage that’s a complete different technique. I can’t talk with your moronic behavior.

U can also have a blackout.. and u frozen.. but the moron from sherdog will instantly say his martial art was worse, because he doesn’t have any clue.

So why can't MMA fighters cross-over; dance around and exploit the K1 fighters' 'shit boxing defense'? Don't bring up the gloves argument; many fighters (Saki for example) are considered to be good boxers under K1 rules.

Admit it, the only reason Saki got knocked out was because he was too cocky and underestimated Rountree, which led to him throwing a bad low kick.

Lastly, you said kickboxers have little-to-no footwork and shit boxing defense.. yet you argue that MMA fighters don't have any of these negative attributes LOL; because the majority of MMA fighters are so good at not getting punched by much lesser fighters. MMA is a sport where guys like Brunson can just run forward with sloppy, looping and horrible strikes can beat you in a minute... and guys like Theodorou can throw shitty no-power and bad technique kicks and punches and get away with it.
Yes, but even bums like a young Lawler and Rountree school kickboxers like Manhoef, Saki, Schilling, etc.

Real stand up fighter

Lol

Kickboxer hide behind their big gloves. They have little to no footwork and shit boxing defense. Guys like Manhoef and Saki have been punished by lesser wrestle-boxers in MMA, and guys like Dillashaw clown top kickboxer like Takeru all the time, simply because they are more mobile and don't stand and bang like those bums.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, in MMA its 80% hands and in and out footwork and 20% kicks, with no place for a high shield guard.

True. I feel like in a street fight, MMA fighters will win most of the time even standing... All that time I spent training muay thai xD

Saki is way out of his prime....In k1 he was one of the fastest guys, with extremely fast combos....he looks like crap now.

Also giant gloves do a huge difference...K1 fighters seem to get overwhelemed way too easy..they dont have the best head movement or footwork imo....thus with small gloves, they cant hide at all behind their gloves then strike like they are use to.

Also a huge factor is the 3 minute * 3/5 rounds....unlike boxing, where fighters have 12 rounds.

This leads to k1 fighters being way too offensive minded, thus I dont think they ever develop their defense as much as boxers......so when they come to mma this happens

It's all fine he lost, he is new to the sport and has some wear and tear.

The only thing that bothers me is that he came off so arrogant. He should stay modest until he proves himself in MMA. For now he is a journeyman MMA fighter that would probably be cut if he didn't have his reputation from kickboxing
