Jones should had lost to Bonnar than.

Bonnar is 6'4" tall and have one inch more added to his reach than Gus, which makes it 80".

Gus is a Boxer who develop great takedown defense. I said this numerous times that if Jones were to face a Boxer who had great takedown defense, he be in trouble.

Jones winning many of his fights had nothing to do with just his reach. The man does not even jab for crying out loud.

It was never his reach, thats some shit the shertards made up after Jones starting destroying everyone's favorite fighter making it look so easy.

His reach has an impact, but his timing moreso. His arm length facilitates a wider range where he can use his elbows. He can also control distance better when on the defense.

But yeah. The man wins standing because he knows how, and when, to strike. Not because he has longer arms.

His reach has been a factor in every fight. Even if he doesn't throw a single punch his opponent is forced to be aware, at all times, that the capability is there.

Jones tends to use kicks as opposed to jabs to hold his opponents at a distance. Side kicks to the knee, leg kicks, body kicks, which still makes use of his length. He just doesnt use traditional boxing methods to utilize his reach, he uses kicks instead.

If reach weren't a factor, it wouldn't be pointed out before every fight as one of the stats in the tale of the tape.

But reach alone isn't enough.

But it has not been the ONLY factor. Mind you Jones is more dangerous in the clinch than from outside.

Gus made sure Jones would not get into a comfortable position in the clinch which is what frustrated Jones.

To say it has "nothing" to do with reach is incorrect. But it's obvious that Jones has many other skills in addition to reach. He isn't the first tall lanky fighter to try mma. He has great wrestling despite his frame.

He uses reach better than any fighter previously. It was pretty clear that facing someone with range like Gus took Jones out of his normal game. So... reach is in fact a big part of his arsenal.

I said "Jones winning many of his fights had nothing to do with JUST his reach" which is a correct assessment.

You just said he is not the first tall lanky fighter to fight in MMA. He uses his reach well for distancing and for spinning elbows but he does not apply his jabs as much nor does he uses his jabs to set up a right cross.
