I feel like Chimaev was trying to advance positions and was actually landing better strikes when he first got stood up

And the second time, Chimaev wasn't in his guard that long

I don't see how that's Chimaev fault, if it was a real fight, there would be no stand-up and I'm pretty sure DDP train fighting as he stated not trying to score points and taking advantage of rules like that

Now that fight was obviously boring. But technical lesson from Chimaev

He was constantly trying to get a RNC... now tbf I have to rewatch the fight but I might be biased because I'm against standing up as that shit do not exist in a real fight

If it was a real fight, Dricus would have been gouging his eyes and biting chunks out of him. That argument is moot when it comes to sports.

They also break under the pressure of knowing the commissions are closely connected with the monopoly promotion, and that promoter can ruin your career if you displease them.

The boos don't just influence them directly, but also start to make them worried about how the promoters will react.

Didn't really care

More annoyed Khamzat didn't really try and finish the fight with ~ 25 mins or ground control

Fair argument however they're not training how to attack or defend eye gouging or biting though, they do train how to stand up though and they're not betting on the ref to stand them up lol
 
Goddard was well within his rights to stand them up. The rules state clearly that you have to be actively trying to finish the fight and that achieving dominant position is not enough.

My problem with the surly c*nt is that when he gives a half-assed 'let's work' direction, you know he has already made his decision to stand them up and pays no attention to what actually happens afterwards. You know a stand up is coming in 15 seconds regardless.

A more professional ref in a less compromised sport would actually give a fighter some time to work after being warned, particularly when they are in a dominant position.
 
Twice after circa 20+ minutes of control time isn’t bad. If he stood them up 5-6 times then I guess we have a point.

Both could do that to each other in a real fight and it's actually easier for the one in control. Dricus still can't get up though.

I don't get why it's good to reward the opponent on the bottom for just playing defensively and hanging on. That hurts the action more than anything.
 
That 5th round stand-up was truly something terrible.

I mean at least be consistent if you are going to do this shit, that one made literally no sense based on the context of where the fight was at and what had just happened.
