GOATs at Each Weight Class QUICKFIRE

I love me some BJ Penn, but he should not be in the honorable mention at WW.

Also, Faber should be #3 at FW. He was carrying the FW division for years and he was at the top longer than Conor, Volk, and Mendes (never at the top)

I'll be giving my top 5 GOATs in each weight class, simple enough really. While I exclude guys who popped for PEDs from my P4P GOAT convo, they will be included without bias on these rankings. Having the number 1 LHW not be Jones, or number 1 MW not be Silva just feels wrong and dirty. I won't be providing a summary with the OP, so if you want my logic, just quote the ranking in question.
Honorable Mentions will be a guy or multiple who could slide into numbers 3-5 depending on the day in my opinion.

Discuss.

Dude get real with Franklin #4 MW of all time. He was a solid fighter and very likeable character but he is barely top5 even in his own era, let alone of all-time. It's ridiculous.

Not even top 10 at this point. His best wins in the division are Tanner and Okami in a extremely close dec. He has not any other consensus top10 win at MW in his career. MMA is not just UFC, mind you, especially back in the early-mid '00s.

Greatests in each division doesn't seem very debatable to me.

Only Khabib vs. Penn seems somewhat debatable. I couldn't even really name anybody else in the other division who have an argument going for them.

I've seen much worse lists. Kudos. I won't bicker, because there is no such thing as

Hendo wasn’t impressive at MW and Franklin is criminally overrated imo ....I realize Mw isn’t deep .... but Whittaker and Romero are top 5 imo

Ya Hendo will never quite fit into any one category. If he's lower at 185 and/or 205 (and I agree with you he probably should be) then he'll be higher on a P4P list than a few fighters that are above him in those lists.

Which is pretty unique. Not many fighters fall into that category with Hendo. Maybe Vitor or Couture.

He definitely Rates higher overall then in any particular division

Lol just realized TS didn't include DC at all. DC is the undisputed LHW #2 and should arguably be listed somewhere at HW too. Not including him at all is complete absurdity.

Lol DC has a lot of haters, so you might be right. Maybe not undisputedly #2, although imo it's pretty clear that he beats any LHW in history except Jones. He should be undisputedly top 5 all time unless someone is straight up hating on him though.
It's hard for everyone to agree on the same answer when they're not even asking or answering the same question!

In this case, the question is how one defines GOAT. Or more specifically, how one weights each criteria behind GOAT.

Your criteria seems to mostly be "who would win, Prime v Prime", so it makes sense that it's unquestionably DC #2. But others who prioritize divisional dominance might very well put Wandy or Chuck at #2 & #3. That's just one example.

TLDR: That's a long winded way of explaining why it's not undisputed ;)

About DC, before writing the list I decided that I wasn't going to include guys whose legacies are split at 2 weight classes because it was too hard to rank them. Then I changed my mind, which is why Randy and Hendo made it. While rewriting the lists DC COMPLETELY slipped my mind, which is inexcusable. DC would slide in at #2 LHW and #4 HW.

You can't make a list excluding PED users. I think everybody uses PEDS.

I don't count PRIDE, cause those guys shamelessly used PEDS.

Cormier, and Khabib are the GOATS. (I think GSP uses, i think Stipe uses)

{<shrug}

It's possible. One should never think their favorite fighters is 100% natty, even a vocal supporter of testing like Georges.

Rampage losing his title to Forrest Griffin knocks him down a little
Rampage beat Liddell twice in two different rule sets. Chuck also lost to Jardine, and then proceeded to get KTFO 4 times in a row. Chuck's title reign was also during the PRIDE era which had the better fighters.
