Gladiator School Prison

Agree. It's a tough situation to be sure. On one hand, we have to give criminals, yes even sex offenders a second chance at life. And the only way to do that is to have the label of criminal, permanently removed from their "file". But at the same time, it would suck if say a daycare center unknowingly hires a :eek::eek::eek:phile, or if an office hires a guy who went postal at his previous job. You gotta consider the safety of the other workers.
As it stands now though, the only way to succeed after getting out of prison is to be a rapper or something.

Don't get me wrong.

I am 100% for sex offender registry's - and registry for criminals of other types. What I'm saying is that we need a little more leeway with how we dish out these labels.

I think "Sex Offender" has such a stigma tied to it, that it should be reserved for people who have committed the worst crimes. The above example I gave of the guy who had sex with the 16 year old girl, peeping toms, guys who are caught with prostitutes etc.. I don't consider these criminals the same class as rapists, child molestors (pre puberty rape), child pornographers, date-rape druggers, etc.

But what we're saying when we throw out an umbrella term like "sex offender", is that all of these criminals are the same. A guy caught jerking off in an X-rated movie theater now has a sign in his yard that says "Don't trick or treat here, I'm a sex offender" - the same as Bob down the street who fucked a little boy in his ass and ruined his life.

That sort of shit isn't fair, and needs to be looked at. That's all I'm saying. In the meantime, it's the law - and the law needs to be obeyed.

Got it. I misunderstood your post. So if I am following you, you are in favor for former inmates who have committed certain crimes, to have a label follow them around for the rest of their lives? How are they supposed to get ahead and become productive?

Productivity is relative.

Someone who has been found guilty of something like child rape.. they will never, and should never have a "normal" job.

After that person serves their prison time, that person should be confined to some form of government supervision, where they can live out their days, not be threatened/harassed, and be "productive" in whatever way they can. Write books, create art, do some work online (with very restricted internet access), etc. Same for a few other types of habitual criminals.

I think this documentary gets the right idea.

You don't understand. Solitary confinement destroys peoples minds. People go crazy.

No I understand completely. The both you can't see past "the hole" version of solitary confinement where people have zero stimulation whatsoever for 23 hours a day.

And as I noted I expect it would make them weird hermits.

But the solution is to figure out how to keep people actually separated and sane insteda of just throwing up your hands and saying "welp we tried locking them in a dark hole and that didn't work so let's let them loose to make the place into criminal training camp".

Have you ever spent 24 hrs straight, locked in a cell by yourself?

The thread title made me think they were training prisoners to be gladiators.

To compete in the gladiator games.

Coming soon, call your local cable provider and order today!

First prisons should not be run by private companies.

Second all prisoners should segregated by crimes and sentence.

Lifers should all ways be segregated from the others.

Those who will see free air some time should be given a chance to help themself through education and other means.

A sex regester should be for those who's crimes demand it to protect others once they are released.

They shouldn't let prisoners interact with other prisoners, particularly ones that are worse than themselves.

That's kind of like punishing a neo-nazi by making him go spend all his time with nothing but hardcore neo-nazis.

Don't really see an easy solution short of solitary confinement for the duration. Would make them into kind of weird hermits. But they could spend the time reading and developing expertise they can use when they get out.

Some other countries take a different approach and the prison system is more active when it comes to counseling and other programs designed to teach the inmates skills for living. In the United States prison is a meet and greet with other criminals. Its like networking with people that show you how to be a better criminal plus make you ten times more violent while they are at it.

He makes a good point though. I should be able to jack off in a public theather without fear of being labled a "sex offender"

And what guy hasn't bought hookers and had sex in public parks?

So I park outside of Curves gym and masterbate in my car during the aerobics classes. Sue me.

Solicitation of prostitutes, nor does jerking in a nudie booth earn you a "sex offender" status.

Shuffling around a middle school with your pants down, may earn you that title.

Even exposing yourself, unless to a minor, will not generally be considered a sex offense. Now, a serial flasher may earn a low level registration, but not a simple "indecent exposure" charge.

To be honest I don't know what to think. I strongly believe that when you go to prison you should lose all the rights you had in society and you get them back when you get out.

As for corps owning and running prisons. If only they wouldn't charge governments more than it would cost to run it themselves..

What? Why should you lose your rights while in prison? Aside from second amendment rights?

Some 17.99999999999999999999999999999999 year olds are hot. Of course it's a crime to think so.

I have never understood lifers/people with 20 year to serve being mixed with much shorter terms.

I think Prison should first be a place of rehabilitation and secondary a place of punishment. While the punishment aspect appeals to those who were wronged by them.
Is it really best for society to take a person make them more violent, give them criminal connections, remove their options for gainful employment and then send them out into society?

I once had sex in a school, it was night time and on a weekend as I was at a party nearby. Both of us were either 17 or 18, (her one month older than me).

Would that earn me a sex offender tag?

I wouldn't have thought so but I do recall readong about something along those lines in regards to a childrens play ground instead of a school.

At what stage in puberty do we give the benefit of the doubt to the molesters, pray tell? Menarche generally begins at around age 12.

No idea but I think the thoughts of the "victim" should be considered a significant factor.

Well actually an age higher than 12 is to me a no brainer but how much higher not sure, also I think largely dependant on age disparity. 14 and 16 is very different to 15 and 25.

I know few women (who are like 50ish now) who had sex at like 13 and didn't think badly of it, stunned me when they told me.

Hell two people had sex after at a party I was at when I was in year 7 so probably 12/13, I think that should be discouraged but punished I dunno.

Just to let you know, that was Hitlers way of thinking before the winter of 1941 when he approved death camps. You are still a human if you go to prison, your rights shouldn't get ignored or trampled on. Committing a crime doesn't make you a subhuman. You're doing your time in there and that's it. Prison should be about rehabilitation not solely about punishment

agreed, those gladiators when they get released from the said prison are going to be much more lethal to society.
