Just over a minute remaining this lands, and Diaz immediately uses the same leg to kick/shake it off.

It was almost a pause/rewind kick. It looked inside out when it happened.

Ban this technique from MMA already.

Why would you be worried when there's less than a handful of MMA fights that have ever been stopped from that kick?

Glad that guy lost. Can't wait to see it against Frankie too.

I got flamed a few years back for advocating for this technique being banned. Yes I understand it is a fight but MMA is a sport at the end of the day and these fighters have families to feed on a far lesser paycheck than other professional athletes. Especially if its on the knee I'm not for it.

I am all for banning knee kicks. Highly dangerous strike and i don't know why it was ever allowed. When i did Karate many years ago, while the kick was taught (more of a snap kick though) we were not permitted to use it at all in sparring. It should be banned along with eyepokes, groin hits and hair pulling. Striking after a person is uncounscious should not be allowed either. Clean up the game a bit more MMA orgs.

ya i noticed that during the fight, that kick was fucking nasty. Im suprised its legal tbh. O well.

What you don't understand is these people are fighting for their well being. They can lose brain cells, get cuts, break bones in that octagon, so they should be able to do whatever to not have damage done to them.

Including eye pokes, nut shots, and pulling hair....

Right? RIGHT?

Needs to be banned. It just has too much potential to end careers, more so than play a great factor in the outcome of a fight.

They should ban punches and kicks because those ruined Gary Goodridge's life.

How many lives has this kick ruined?

If the knee weren't so difficult to repair and so crucial to mobility, then I could see why it's still allowed. There's a reason that even fighters in the sport are calling for a ban. Sure, until then exploit the shit out of it to get the W. I'm just saying I'm glad it didn't affect the next round that we got to witness with Nate's mobility completely shot. Fighters don't throw this kick just for the points.

You can try to make the argument that it's MMA -- we're watching grown men hit eachother in the face here -- all day long, but by that logic punches to the back of a head, groin, cranking a submission too long, fingers to eyes, etc. would all still be allowed, too.

This strike will be banned, it's just a matter of time.
