Gigolos show on Showtime - Why do women go on the show?

Some of the women aren't that attractive. Some are. Maybe they just don't give a fuck and figure it is easy money to be on the show?

The guys probably were paid well. I cannot see the women being paid a whole lot. Some looked well off and play a part of a wealthy business woman who doesn't have time to date. Then they get naked and fake fuck. And say I would recommend joe smith for the service he provides.

Pretty sure the sex was unsimulated, at least to some extent because the show had a 18 U.S.C. 2257 record during the credits (as have other reality sex shows like Cathouse, Real Sex, Hookers at the Point, etc.). Anytime you make a commercial production with unsimulated sex you have to keep a record of the participants and their ages. It came into law in 1988 as a reaction to the whole Traci Lords debacle where they (her employer and her mom's molester boyfriend) were able to get her an ID under an alias by using stolen documents.

Her mom's boyfriend then took her to Jim South to get her porn career started when she was still 15 going on 16. in this interview with Nick he said twice it was simulated sex. See about 28 minutes in.

I had a good laugh at the interview. Within a couple of sentences he said earned an English degree and it is one of the degrees. Then said after he got his degree he was working as a waiter and then got into stripping. Then took it to a higher level and went to escorting.
 
It was funny when Bagwell was on the show cause he was so awkward and nervous. You’d think he’d be a natural being in show biz especially with his gimmick being a ladies man. Definitely wasn’t the stuff.

It's been a while since I've seen the show, but I agree with the poster who said it was staged rather than simulated. Nick Hawk is saying it was simulated apparently, but I suppose that's open to interpretation.

Assuming he's telling the truth, it doesn't necessarily mean it applies to the entire cast. Showtime wouldn't have kept 18 U.S.C. 2257 records if they didn't have to. It's a legal requirement when showing real sex. FWIW, Gigolos is tagged as having both simulated and unsimulated sex on IMDb. That makes sense to me. We know that several of the cast members are porn stars. Especially the women who were depicted as hiring the male escorts and then shown having sex with them. I don't think it was shot like a typical porn film where you have to make sure the guy gets hard and stays hard and cums, but it wasn't like a typical Hollywood sex scene either. Hence the 18 U.S.C. 2257 requirement.

I'd say 90% was staged. They rented houses for a supposed business woman out of town to fuck.
It was good fun for what it was, the ball busting with the older guy when they used to get together for drinks to hang out was funny as fuck.

Yeah, that makes sense to me. I don't remember a ton from the show. I watched it like 10 years ago or so.
