Some pretty hard sparring going on here. Very AKA-esque. Holzken is no slouch in the striking department, I bet he tools MJ on the daily.
 
Definitely nice chin-check in there.

Throwing about 10% harder than I would sparring except for very special occasions. Man, don't crack you're chin in the gym.

MJ looks pretty fatigued. Looks like it could be a late round or near the end of an intense day.

No problem. A few days ago I saw a short clip of Abel Trujillo and Kamaru Usman sparring way too fuckin' hard. Abel was throwing bombs reminiscent of the Varner KO. Landed one flush on Usman's chin that planted him on his ass but he seemed okay.
 
They spar hard at Blackzillians it seems.
 
Jesus... It is not healthy, but they are fucking warriors... Taking shots like that on the chin almost every day... They spar like Cain is training, to damage yourself.
 
MJ is a beast why do you think he dusted Barboza on the feet?? He has some serious fucking hands, Hoelzken is like one of the best kickboxers in the world too if I'm not correct??

Yep, Holtzken is one of the best. The Blackzilians has a very strong stable of strikers and one of the best striking coaches in the game right now. It's not hard to see how Johnson's striking has gotten so good. Also speaks more to Nate Diaz, who used MJ's head like a damn speed bag.

Yeah, your chin is fine ... Until it's not anymore.

I'm over-simplifying and generallizing but I'll be damned if permanent chin degradation doesn't seem real.

I wonder sometimes about guys with a history of a great chin just fall off a cliff and start getting KO'd by a stiff breeze. Are they cracking it uneccessarily in the gym?

Na, I definitely agree with you. There's gotta be a correlation there. There's only so much the noggin can take before the cracks become visible.

Fucking nice combo!

Holzken is a beast. It's no wonder MJ got such a good striker, working with guys like Spong, Holzken, Hooft...

You don't forge iron with pool noodles there that's for damn sure
 
Not sure how I feel about sparing this way.

On one hand, I think steel sharpens steel and it makes for a better fighter.

On the other hand, I think it shortens careers and will cause brain trauma on the long run.

They are men though, make your own choices.
 
The Dutch mentality towards sparring is fucking terrible. No reason whatsoever to do that.
