why not wear the gi but not grip the sleeves or the collar. Wouldn't this be the best thing....? best of both worlds! no slipping and exploding out but no huge amounts of gi chokes and other subs [and techs ]that dont translate well to mma,.
Why not just train no gi, so your submissions become tighter BECAUSE people are slipping out. Otherwise, you'll be training something that doesn't work the same way during real competition. It's like training to throw a javelin like a discus; related, but training one doesn't prepare you to compete in the other.
