Hi guys,

Sharing a recent review I did on the Gameness Pearl gi here. I'm sure the Gameness brand is not a stranger to most of you. You can see the full review with photos here:

SEA MMA Gear Guide: Gameness 2010 Pearl Weave Gi Review

Introduction

Gameness produces a wide variety of gis, and was one of the brand names I kept hearing when looking for quality yet affordable gis. In particular, I

great review...have you seen the older pre 2010 pants they are like a heavy denim and these ones are now ripstop which is a better choice IMO - gameness makes awesome affordable products always loved my pearl cuz it was light but not super easy to grab like a ripstop gi

Haven't seen them, but yeah, I did hear that the older ones were heavier. Initially, I wanted one of the older ones without the Gameness patch in front, but the patch eventually grew on me.

Nice. I have a gameness pearl from three years ago (well before they made the ripstop pants) - the jacket is holding up really nicely, there are only a few small tears in the collar. The pants are almost unusable due to their weight and bagginess, which I think they fixed. All in all an awesome starter gi for the price.

Ok I just got my Gameness 2010 Pearl in A4.

Hoooooge props to Budovideos. They got my gi to my door in 20 days (im in south-east Europe) and I paid no customs. Total expense 112$

Will do a rewiev of it here, or maybe a new thread, depends on the TS

First impressions:

Gi is very soft, very light, and very white.

However the collar is very thin, compared to my Keiko 2008 Limited and my Atama 5 it's non-existent. However I will check back if this is a bad thing (cuz my thick lapels sometimes feel like they are choking me on their own).

Pants have good lenght and are very light. But to roomy in the but area, makes my ass look big :P

These are just first impressions, I got the gi like 15 minutes ago. Better review and pics are comming as soon as I wash and roll in it

Probably the best pictures I've seen anyone take for a gi review! Super helpful

I'm stuck between this gi or the new shoroyoll white mamba that is coming out tomorrow. I can either be economical and buy the gameness or blow all of my money on a shoyoroll...decisions decisions.

Glad you found it helpful. So did you get the SYR? Hahaha.

Nope, ended up going with the gameness. I figured it'd be a bad idea to blow all of my money on a gi when I could use the $60 on some things I needed to take care of.

Boo responsibility!

So I got my gi in the mail last week, but the only thing is that I think the gi may be a little too big to shrink. I'm not sure if I should send it back to budovideos and ask for an A1 or try to shrink the A2 I have. According to their sizing chart the A2 should be perfect for me since I'm 5'8 165.

So OP and anyone else in this thread I need your opinions, should I try to shrink the gi or send it back for an A1?

I look pretty out of it in these photos, I took these at the end of a long day

^you're like me we are like a1.5's the a1 top may get a lil tight where its barly legal and i dont know if i have bigger thighs but the pants restrict movement in a1

If I rmb correctly, which has been awhile, the gi didn't shrink by that much on me. But I only wash cold and air dry. Why don't you take a quick measurement of yourself and compare with my post-wash gi measurements to see if you're comfortable with the A1 size after shrinkage? If it ends up a little too short, you might want to stick with A2 and shrink down.

Gi Top
Sleeve to Sleeve - 171cm
Chest width - 52cm
Gi length (collar to skirt) - 73cm
Arm width (at armpits) - 25cm
Cuff width (at sleeves) - 15cm

Gi Pants
Pant width - 48cm
Pant length - 91cm
Cuff width (at leg) - 21cm

I have 3 Gameness Gi's. 2 platinums and 1 feather. They were all big out of the box on me, but after hot wash and hot dry they shrunk up perfectly. The Gameness can continue to shrink too if you keep trying.
So, the A2 could end up fitting you if you hot wash and hot dry it.

thanks for the info man! i just got my gi from the laundromat and had it put through the drier.. the length of the sleeves definitely shrank, way better than it was out of the bag. may after some 2-3 repetition of this process it'll be a perfect fit. only problem i think is the skirt is definitely long for my height. anyways, i think it's better this way than a really snug a2.

I just got my gameness gi and of course its too big for me. im 5'7" 140 pounds and I got an A2 size gi. I'm not sure if i wanna just deal with it being a little too long or if I want to try washing and drying it a few times. Does drying it cause it to shrink dramatically?
