Who is director Jason Reitman gonna call for his Ghostbusters movie? The answer is Mckenna Grace, the 12-year-old actress currently onscreen as a young Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel.

Grace has nabbed a starring role in the new supernatural adventure movie from Sony that is serving as a sequel to the original Ghostbusters movies made in the 1980s by Ivan Reitman, Jason Reitman’s father.

The story, by Reitman and Gil Kenan, centers on four teens, one set older, one set younger, with a focus on one family in particular. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard and The Leftovers’ Carrie Coon are already cast. Grace has been described as the ostensible lead, with Wolfhard playing her brother and Coon her single mother.

Plot details are being kept underneath a Manhattan firehouse. The project, which has been operating under the code name Rust City, is due to go before cameras this summer and is dated for a July 10, 2020, release. Ivan Reitman is producing.

Grace is on one of the hottest rolls a youngster can have in Hollywood. She is starring in Amazon’s coming-of-age movie Troop Zero, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year. She appears as the young Danvers in several flashbacks in Marvel, which is expected to cross the billion-dollar mark at the box office next week. She co-stars opposite Kiefer Sutherland in ABC’s Designated Survivor. And she will be back on the big screen as one of the stars in Annabelle Comes Home, New Line’s latest entry in its The Conjuring horror universe. Grace also appeared on Netflix’s horror series Haunting of Hill House.

Goddamnit they’re making ANOTHER Annabelle film?! Can they fuck off already.

God dammit, I had high hopes they were fixing the bullshit with the last one and sounds as they are playing along the same shit.

Unless this little girls family is being messed with and murry and ackroid show up in the old school car to save the day I’m fucking noping out of this shit too

The female Ghostbusters was a predictable disaster, but there is no guarantee that this one will be be a hit.

Not excited about it, but I'll probably catch it when it comes to Netflix. maybe...

If Billy Murray is in it, I’ll watch. But if it’s a cast of chicks or all black cast, they can shove that sjw shit in the same garbage can the 2016 one is in.

Girl Ghostbusters had potential but the writing just wasn't there.
No one wants to write jokes because it's easier to rely on improv skills of your stars, but that shit is hit or miss, at best, and no way to run the whole movie

I thought the effects were too much for a comedy. It looked good, but the ending was like a Marvel movie. The original had high stakes too, but remembered to stay funny throughout.

I hope this new one is good, but the casting has me worried about the direction.

If they are coming at it from this angle it won’t be, if they came at it from
The angle the original short trailer suggested, showing the old car with ackroid, Murray and token black back in action it would have sold like a mother fucker.

Finn Wolfhard and Carrie Coon to Star in Jason Reitman's GHOSTBUSTERS

Jason Reitman is beginning to cast his Ghostbusters installment, eyeing Carrie Coon and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard to star.

Sources say the story for the sequel will focus on a single mom and her family, with Coon playing the mom and Wolfhard playing her son. Filmmakers are still casting the rest of the family. The new Ghostbusters is said to ignore the 2016 female-led film by director Paul Feig. The studio would not comment on plot details.

Reitman is directing the pic from a script he co-wrote with Gil Kenan. The director's father, Ivan Reitman, who directed the original film, will produce.

The movie is set to go into production this summer. Sony has dated the sequel in for July 10, 2020.

Coon was last in theaters with Steve McQueen's Widows and is set to star opposite Jude Law in Sean Durkin's The Nest. Wolfhard is best known for Netflix series Stranger Things, which will debut its third season this summer. He starred in New Line's massively successful It, and will appear in the studio's follow-up It: Chapter Two.

Star? Not impressed with that casting.

I'm cool with a whole new cast as long as they keep going with the wonton soup jokes from the 2016 movie.

Even with a good director/writer like Reitman on board and with Murray, Hudson, Dan and Weaver back, there’s no guarantees it will be good. But I’m optimistic.

Ramis was a huge aspect of my enjoyment of the first two. Moranis and Potts were a huge aspect of my enjoyment of the first two. Those three not being involved (I guess they could get Potts at least) bums me out.

RIP Egon.

This franchise fucked up too bad on the last film. Even with thr original cast this movies gonna fail.

I didn't watch Ghostbusters until I was an adult. It was cool. I don't get the insane fanbase it has though. Its not like it's Star Wars or something.
