At least according to Abel Sanchez...

Gennady Golovkin trainer Abel Sanchez has issued a warning about this Saturday’s clash between GGG and Vanes Martirosyan. “He (Vanes) will never be the same after this fight,” said Sanchez. “None of the fighters that Gennady has fought were ever the same. Jacobs looked terrible in his last fight. Why? Because he went twelve rounds with Golovkin…it’s not only Jacobs. If you go back to Lemieux, to Stevens, to Wade, to Willie Monroe, they are never the same. Murray also. They are never the same after they go rounds with Gennady. Jacobs was supposed to demolish Arias and he had a difficult time with him, which was his first fight after Gennady and now the fight with Sulecki he looked terrible. He gets hit with everything in the book and the reason being, in my opinion, is once you go twelve rounds with Golovkin you are never going to be the same.

I've heard some pretty stupid shit this year so far but this takes the cake. I think GGG won that fight WITH HIS JAB which has some snap on it but enough to ruin someone's career? Get the fuck outta here. This is on par with Kovalev saying he forced Ward into retirement with the "beatings" he put him through. I am a big GGG fan but Sanchez is trying his fucking best to make me change my mind. If Jacobs is so fucking ruined why is GGG fighting Vanes instead of him?

What a load of shit. He even forgets the one fighter that i think that really did get ruined by GGG, and that's Kell Brook.

Sad how Jacobs shoulda got the nod (imo), but now can't get the rematch and probably never will, and has to listen to Abel talk shit now too. Probably all said in between mouthfulls of overcooked steak while still tryin to make excuses for his fighter's poor performance against Canelo who honestly probably ruins GGG 2nd time around

golovkin claimed to have the flu in his fight with ouma but regardless he put kassim in the hospital and the durable man from uganda did not fight again for 2.5 years and his career was essentially over

lol @ golovkin having a poor performance against canelo.

and sanchez is talking shit, but i don't really see the harm. i mean he's hyping his guy, literally every trainer does that. it might be he actually believes that going 12 rounds with gennady is bad for you, and i'd agree that it certainly doesn't help with your career's longevity. probably not to the extent he's stating, but there is something to be said about going to war with hard punchers. we know it takes something out of the fighters.

and to be honest, so far GGG or sanchez haven't really said anything bad about jacobs, but i have heard jacobs going around saying GGG wasn't as good as expected, etc. i love danny and will always root for him, but he still lost that fight. it was close, and he lost by a really small margin, but he wasn't robbed in any sense.

Ouma's a doctors dream though, childhood of poverty in Uganda and joining Kony's resistance militia only to be blasted with a shotgun twice after reaching the safe haven which is the US:)

that's the fight that made me a fan of GGG. I had money on Ouma and he fought his fucking heart out, I had a lot of respect for Ouma before but found a ton more for him after this fight. But that was the day I realized just how much of a dog GGG is.

Ppl just didn't do that to Ouma. Ouma beat GGG beat up pretty good, thought I had a good shot to hit my 8-1 or whatever it was b/c he really did land some brutal shots, but Golovkin just kept coming and beat him even worse. What a fight.

Anyway Abel's point is a shitty one when it comes to Danny. I am a huge GGG nut hugger but I've admitted several times on here that I edged that fight to Danny. He hasn't been ko'ing guys recently but Arias showed up not to get stopped and now we know Sulecki is a pretty good fucking fighter, yet Jacobs still beat him.

However, Abel does make an interesting point in that the way GGG fights and puts prolonged, brutal beatings on many of his opponents. His stamina, constant pressure, he has that big power but the kind that's heavy but not really enough to really one shot ko guys, although he has done it a couple times, Ishida being one off the top of my head.

He's your prototypical dog, a guy who can take a shot and keep coming, he's a pressure fighter who hits you hard with every shot, even his jab looks like a sledgehammer, and he destroys the body as well as the head. The former he's gotten away from in recent fights, to my and many others' frustration.

So long story tl;dr version. He does have a style that can take a lot out of a fighter after GGG steps in the ring with them. I think Abel is correct in saying some of the guys GGG has fought are not the same b/c of what GGG did to them but using Danny as your example is just wrong.

Danny looks just as good, reflex wise, willingness to exchange, etc. Jacobs looks far from shot and just b/c he didn't look like the usual killer he is in his last two, the eye test tells us he's just fine. Jacobs is young and still hungry. Abel was stupid to use him as an example here. That being said a few guys do seem to have fallen off, possibly due to the beatings they've taken from Golovkin.

Btw is a comparison to Hagler appropriate here, considering their natural style/approach to fighting? Hagler could box better but when he was in kill mode he had the same dog type of mentality where he was constantly trying to hit you hard with every punch and he could do it for rd after rd until guys just wilted. I think it's an apt comparison but anybody who bothers to read all this shit can agree/disagree with me here.

Oh while I'm /ranting this I might as well point out that GGG fights in a way where he wants a war and he thinks he's gonna win that war every time. It should be said that he's taken a lot of punishment over the years as well, Jacobs really beat on him and Canelo landed some brutal shots as well. He is kind of inhuman in the way he can endure punishment but you would think it's gotta catch up to him at some point as well.

Sorry to write all this shit in while quoting you Quincy, that first part was just to you obv. I got a bit carried away, and didn't want to split this into two posts. Alright I'm done now. /rant.

If he wants to talk shit about Jacobs as a trainer it is one thing- but he damn well better push for a rematch (which I know he won't) since it was so close. The others GGG beat handily, Jacobs was close or IMO a Jacobs win. I am a fan of both fighters and I want both to fight again. Why seek the fight against a drugs cheat when Jacobs is there and ready.

Jacobs took a lot more damage in 5 rounds against Pirog than he took in 12 against Golovkin. Sanchez just talking shit as per usual.

Did he mention Canelo ?

For a modest fee I'll edit this post for you and we can publish in book form. :p

Haha, I know man, I get carried away sometimes. I love boxing, and I am a verbose motherfucker in general. I just make post, try to edit the grammar a bit after, and leave it. Most ppl see it and either read it or just skim past but if even one person reads it and finds it somewhat intriguing, then it was worth it for me. I've always liked writing, esp about boxing. But I write too much for sure. I'd agree to this as a book but it wouldn't sell any copies, lol!

In my opinion calling a fighter shot is about as bad as it gets. All the insults people throw at each other like Kov saying Adonis is a monkey or Hopkins saying no white guy will ever beat him Or Roger Mayweather calling himself the mexican killer is all just stupid fun and games stuff.

When a legit trainer tries to honestly sell the idea that a fighter in his prime is ruined it bothers me. I think because it didn't seem to be meant as an insult at all. He tries to come off like he's stating facts. It totally undersells Jacobs and hurts the chances of a rematch and it's like he wants to hurt the chances of a Canelo/Jacobs fight too.

It also diminishes the fact that there are actually lots of totally shot fighters still fighting and literally ruining their lives for another paycheck like Brandon Rios.

Jacobs/GGG was an awesome fight. He did look a bit hittable in his last two, but I think Jacobs looks good. I actually thought Jacobs could've easily gotten the win against GGG. I'm a boxing pleb though so I could be in the extreme minority.

You got me, you click title bait fuck lol.

The right fighter got the nod in the Jacobs fight. If Jacobs didn't show any heart, chin etc in that fight. I could argue for Sanchez but Jacobs did everything he could to win. He just wasn't the better man on that particular night.

Also Sanchez is just drumming up shit for PR.

For sure man, I fucking love this sport and this forum, so I appreciate the good words, bud. There's a handful or two of posters on here whose opinion I respect. You're one of the higher ones on the list.

Popping a brew rn. Salud, my friend.

@JayE get your ass in here and shoot some black velvet, please.

What other booze drinkers do I know on here? @PHATV you gotta have some brew to drink as well.

Cheers to pugilism motherfuckers.

Haha sorry! Couldn't help myself.

I think Jacobs is the definition of someone who fights at the level of his opponents. When he fights someone great he puts up a great fight like he did with GGG and to some extent Kid Chocolate. When he fights a can he fights like a can. Look how he let garbage ass Sergio Mora drop him like a sack of pennies and how his last opponent went punch for punch with him all night.

Hell if you want to talk about a fight hurting someone's career look what Jacobs did to Kid Chocolate. Saw his face on a milk carton yesterday.

I didnt think Jacobs looked that bad against Sulecki. He did look crap against Arias though
