Nah, I can´t see it. This is a very strange logic.

In my opinion you simply described racism. If I don´t like my new neighbour mainly because he is black, it would be justified to call me racist.

But if someone doesn´t like to get new neibours in general, regardless of any skin colour, maybe because this person likes his neighborhood as it is, then it´s way closer to what I would describe as being conservative.
But even this doesn´t really make sense, because it would imply that conservatives don´t like to meet new human beings in general, which is simply not true.

To be against everything which is new is reactionary, but not conservative. Sorry if I sounded a little bit aggressive, but I really don´t like how people mix all these terms: conservative, racist, reactionary in one pot.

Being conservative is more about values, traditions and to question new ideas, if they are really useful and reasonable. And in my opinion we need this, because the liberal left wants to tell us that every new change they want to make is aweseome and if you don´t agree with that, you are a conservative, reactionary bigot, who is eventually racist.

You are working with a dictionary definition and because it does not include racism, conservatives cannot be racist. I am saying that classical self-identified conservatives in Germany often do have the racist elements.

Of course conservatives can be racist. I tried to explain this with the term "values" and that they can be very different.

Conservatism doesn t include racism, but old conservatives tend to be racist, it is true.

Then I would describe them as racist first of all and not: "These are conservatives with racist elements in their brains."

Doesn't make it right in Gauland 's position to have said that, though, and AfD will have to be reminded of that in television debates for years to come.

My wife is Asian which makes my son half Asian ( little dude is 8 and tri-lingual ), ive had Indo canadian roomates , i deal with Chinese and Russians in Vancouver for my business daily, i used to work in an international school ( my wife still teaches history there )which had students from approximately 80 countries at any given time this all in Victoria and Vancouver, an absolutely fantastic place to live and raise a family and all with an extremely diverse population.

I am half native, I have lived all over the planet, including China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, several places in Africa, including almost a year in the Congo, and a dozen other places.

Here's a hint, your not dealing with average immigrants because only a very small subsection of immigrants can even afford to move to Vancouver. But there is no racial tension between the whites and indo community in Surrey, or between the Chinese in Richmond and everyone else. Go ask how many white people feel comfortable in Chinese malls in Richmond, whether there is racial tension there. Go ask the RCMP how many problems they have with problems with the Vietnamese communities. Go check out the fraud numbers for ICBC by race, and go into a mall and ask to see the board for people who are banned and come back and tell me there is no racial discomfort in the lower mainland.

I was born on Vancouver Island and I have lived for most of the last 20 years in West Vancouver. Before that I lived much of my teen years in East Vancouver. I know what the city was like and what it is like, I also know what it is likely to become and considering just how little the races/cultures mix here its a hell of a lot more like Yugoslavia, then New York.

As has been mentioned below your post the AFD needs to let its supporters know where they stand, so that the supporters have trsut in them. Sure your could say from a real politik standpoint that admitting out loud their racist sympathies is self defeating but if they didn't the support base might think the AFD is not genuine. Traditional views include antisemitism and racism, at least in the village in Southern Germany I grew up in (traditionally 50+ percent CDU, now >30% AfD). People told Jew jokes in elementary school and at the bus stop.

I get it now. Germany still hates the Jews, so they are trying to fill their country with "refugees" of the one groups that might hate the Jews even more than the Nazis did, but don't have to take responsibility for attacks on them. That's genius.

BTW, conservative values are mostly to do with family structure, personal role in society etc in most places. Wanting traditional values does not mean wanting to go in a time machine. There weren't computers or cell phones several decades ago either, but I don't think anybody wants to go back to that, the same way they don't want everyone's personal opinions on race the same as they were.

Like I said, utter delusion. Vancouver IS great, and for the most part the racism is on the simmer. Because of relatively great economic conditions. Everyone is always relatively friendly when things are going well, wait until the economies really start to hit hard times.

As for Richmond malls, you have no idea what the fuck your talking about. If you can go into those places as a non-Asian and not feel the tension of people there then you are simply an oblivious individual. Try walking in there with a black woman and a black 6 year old and then get back to me. My sister has lived in Richmond for more then 40 years, has a Chinese husband and even she admits there is racial tension there. Just for the record, I remember a time when there was no intersection lights on no 3 road. I remember when there was literally one paved road in Richmond.

Unfortunately, the party's head, Alexander Gauland, made a pretty shitty and racist declaration concerning soccer star Jérôme Boateng, who happens to be on the national soccer team and is a top player at the Bayern Munich, the most prominent soccer club in Germany :

"People find him good as a soccer player. But they don't want a Boateng as a neighbor".

Boateng is born in Berlin of a German mother and Ghanean father.

What a dumb fucking declaration that was. Not only is it racist, but attacking a hugely popular soccer player one week before the start of the Euro-Cup was an utterly retarded move.

How is it racist? If I could afford the neighborhood, I'd hate to live next door to a pro athlete too.
