German food is my favorite cuisine.
My Mom's family is Austrian & my Oma was German-Italian. As a kid, during the holidays or on special occasions, 6-7 course meals weren't uncommon.
I mentioned in another thread that my wife sells Pampered Chef products & loves trying new recipes. Now that my Mom has retired, she's occupying her free time by teaching my wife how to cook all the dishes I grew up with.
Tonight we're having rouladen & spaetzle (look it up). The house smells amazing.
Too funny, my brother literally just asked the same question.so what time do you want me to come over?

oh man, i've been knowing about good german food! i lived next to a great german restaurant when i was living in san francisco. german food always uses high-quality ingredients, and while not as complicated and flamboyant as french cuisine, it's excellent for what it is.

Mmmmmm...German potato salad.I’m not. MASSIVE fan but I adore curryworst, even the motorway service restaurants do great curryworst. Probably the best German meal I have had.
Used to go to a bier garden in Virginia, their sausages were great too, used to get the pickled red cabbage and German potato salad. It was mainly the ambience though, it was really quaint and dark so Christmas Eve was really cozy.
