Ok look I'm not saying that GSP would've beaten Silva in a kickboxing match or anything (I actually think GSP wouldn't have been that impressive in a pure striking match against a lot of guys he outstruck in MMA), but what I am saying is that if the two fought in their primes, GSP would've gotten the better of him on the feet because of the takedown threat + GSP just being a better MMA fighter.

I believe that if GSP and Anderson fought in 2009, GSP not only would've won, but would've mopped the floor with Anderson. This is because:

1. No way in hell Anderson stops GSP's takedowns
2. No way in hell Anderson subs GSP off his back
3. GSP's underrated MMA striking, in conjunction with his GOAT level changes and reactive takedowns, would've made it so that Anderson was too hesitant to throw much with fight-ending intent, and it would've neutralised Anderson's leg kicking game because GSP was one of the best at catching kicks.

GSP is far from the best pure striker, but this isn't kickboxing, and effective MMA-adapted striking is the only thing that matters in the Octagon.

GSP's GOAT jab, which would've been a great weapon to use against Anderson:

GSP knocking down prime Alves with a cross thrown with perfect technique:

GSP catching Condit's leg kick and taking him down, which undoubtedly would've happed against Silva:

GSP bless

Prime GSP tapped to strikes to LW 69” reach Matt Serra. Prime GSP was sent to retirement by 69” inch Johny Hendricks. GSP has a 76” inch reach and still got wrecked.

The only fighter GSP fought who had good wrestling, good striking, and wasn’t a LW (Hendricks) retired him.

GSP ducked Woodley, Whittaker, and Lawler for a reason. GSP’s striking only looked good against one dimensional fighters and LWs.

Anderson would have wrecked him within a round. GSP ran away from this superfight for a reason.

GSP would wrestlefuck Silva to a decision. It would look like the first Chael fight expect no last minute submission.

Anderson never let the threat of a takedown bother him. he flowed with no fucks givin. most strikers cant do this because they dont have the skills anderson does on the ground.

i would favor gsp over guys like wonder boy and till for this reason though TS.

I truly think he gave zero fucks cause he's deadly from his back. Silva in his prime wouldve beaten the fuck out of GSP.

Perhaps. I wish he would have been man enough to fight him in his prime. He jumped the fuck up to middleweight when he saw Bisping was champ though!

You’re right, GSP probably wouldn’t have out struck Anderson toe to toe. He would have worked him like Chael did though, except GSP wouldn’t get subbed in the final minute like his JV version did.

The only thing we do know is that GSP ducked Anderson for half a decade

Citing he was """too small""" for MW

Then was 2nd in line for Bisping's MW title lmao

Chael outstruck Silva easily. Knocked him down and kept connecting at will. Silva is the most overrated can crusher in the history of the sport. GSP would have killed Silva.

Hey, I'm on the GSP GOATwagon, but you're really reachin' here TS!

That was prime GSP who fought Hendricks? You must be new. He was years removed from a torn ACL at that point and it was accepted he was not the same fighter. I believe GSP in 2010 would have defeated Anderson Silva. This was prior to Silva improving his TDD, after being humiliated by Chael Sonnen for 4.5 rounds.

Prime Silva made his opponents hesitant, not the other way around. I don't think fans understand the level of mind fuck Silva was doing back in the day.

Also you're crazy if you think GSP wants to do any more striking against Silva other than just to set up his takedowns.

The Demian Maia fight says otherwise.

Really wish the fight would of happend. I think GSP would of wrestled him for 25minutes...but Anderson had some Voodoo shit going on in his fights in his prime......

Fuck GsP he didnt want no smoke tho

Yet he wanted no piece of the Spider. Silva would have finished him.

Lol at Dozer showing up immediately for damage control
