General Gaming Discussion, v3

Finally got rid of my PS3 yesterday, it was a sad day. I was keeping it hooked up in a spare room just in case I ever decided to play it. Well it was a nice thought but I haven't played it in over a year. It was hard to get rid of, so many AMAZING games. I was thinking about, I've probably put more hours into PS3 than I have any system before. And I might concede it's my favorite system of all time.

Hi guys, I'm sorry if I write not in this thread, I made a new game for MMA fans - "MMA Quiz", this is my first game, please download and express your opinion. I will be glad to objective reviews. Thank you =)

Anyone played Tales of Zestiria?

I'm about 15 hours or so into it. Pretty standard for a Tales game, but it had to take a back seat when FO4 came out. Then once I finished FO4 I was planning on finishing it up, but I made the mistake of putting in Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin. I'm about half way through NG+ on DS2, then I will be jumping back into ToZ to finish it up before DS3 drops.

You might regret that down the road. Ten years from now, and the PS3 and 360 will be the greatest retro systems out there.

I've actually started collecting for them. Grabbed 40 old games for them in the last few months. Don't know if I'll stick with it, but man, what a great run those systems had. I can confidently say it surpassed the 16-bit consoles as the greatest era of gaming.

Yeah I think it surpassed the N64/PSOne era for me. But the truth is nostalgia only goes so far. It's nice to pick up the controller and play for a bit but the age starts to show quickly. And they just become dust gathering clutter and I can't stand that shit. I've got my PS4 and plenty of games to keep me busy. And I definitely got my money's worth out of the PS3. Oblivion, Skyrim, both Fallouts, both GTA's, Red Dead Redemption, Gran Turismo 5. I must have put a thousand hours into just those games.

Lol, I'd say most early 3D games haven't aged well. The PS3/360 games? They're perfectly fine.

True. Especially with PS1/N64 era, when developers were just figuring out how to make games in 3D. Some games seemed amazing simply because we had never seen anything like it. Goldeneye is great example. I could just wander around shooting guys and watching their reactions and be satisfied. Just seeing bullets make holes in the walls was amazing. I can't play that game today though. It's so bad compared to even the most run of the mill shooter made in the last ten years.

I don't see that being the case with the PS3/360 though. Graphics have sort of hit a ceiling, and I haven't seen many innovations in game design this gen. They're mostly just aping the design from last gen, which was one of the most innovative eras in gaming history. I don't see me playing the games again purely out of nostalgia, and having to ignore a fuckload of faults to enjoy it. I think they'll hold up really well.

Then again, we'll probably be wearing VR helmets in the future and living in the games, so maybe they will age horribly if they manage to perfect VR gaming.

Started playing Witcher 3 again because I sort of burned through it the first time. I thought it was pretty good the first time but it didn't really grab me. I'm finding myself bored with it after only a few hours again. I guess my biggest problem with the game is I don't anything about really any fun. There's nothing I'm looking forward to doing. It looks and sounds amazing, it's a technical masterpiece but it's just not fun to play IMO. One thing that drives me nuts is the lack of freedom, you really can't go anywhere or do anything you want which is especially frustrating when you've been placed in this very impressive world to play in.

I find the open world is pretty much irrelevant and full of pointless distractions (And I'm OCD when it comes to clearing icons up). I think it would've been so much better on a smaller scale, with some proper pacing to the plot. I had the exact same beef with Dragon Age Inquisition. It's a shame seeing Bioware and CDPR, two developers who can write outstanding characters and story, fuck up their games trying to follow Bethesda's example

I'm working on Phantom Breakers:Battle Grounds atm and I'm enjoying it so far. It's an arcade style beat em up game with coins everywhere. You can pull off some big hit combos.

Just picked up rocket league today, got about 2 hours in and my thumb hurts. Very fun game, and advice guys?

So random.

I found a brand new copy of "Skyrim: Legendary Edition" today for $5 at a garage sale. Sealed and everything. It was amongst a bunch of DVD's, HD-DVD's(lol), and Blu Rays. Couldn't pass it up.

I already put around 100 hours into it when it came out, but never touched the DLC. It's been long enough that it will probably feel fresh. It'll Give my 360 some usage as well.

Last time i had a PS4 i tried getting into that game but just couldn't. Can't put my finger onto why, at the same time I've spent over 12 days in Fallout 4 so idk.

Although i was hoping the game would get the Fallout 3 and New Vegas treatment of DLC (They all had 4-5 FULL length expansions with level cap increase), still i was pretty happy with Dragonborn and especially Dawnguard personally. Hearthfire was great also, loved building huge custom player homes.

$5 sealed is legit though.

I've been playing the shit out of WWE 2K16 lately. It's a damn good rasslin sim.

Atari released a Vault Pack on Steam. 100 vintage games on sale for $17.
