General Gaming Discussion, v3

Just beat Batman: Arkham Asylum. It's a good game, but I don't know about calling it one of the GOATs of this generation. I was starting to get frustrated towards the end, and felt like giving up. Not because of the difficulty, but the gameplay. I hate backtracking on maps, things got too redundant, and the camera angles were shitty. The bosses never got better, but were decent. Honestly this felt more like a ps2 game, than a modern one. Take that how you will. The combat, and scenarios were too repetitive to make it really fun.

When the game breaks and resets, I literally thought my disc was fucked up, and I was about to start a chat with Amazon for a refund. :)

I do think the story was great. Would have made a great movie, or TAS double episode.
I'm 50-50 on getting the others right now.

City is generally considered a big improvement so if you'd like some more batman you should get that...

Is that a low-budget game?

I'm not a graphics whore, but damn those graphics don't look that good.

It's figures with an NFC chip in'em. You put the figure on a portal and you control it in the game.
Infinity is basically just disney's version of Skylanders.

I don't know what Skylanders is either lol. So can you use the gen 3.0 on 1rst gen boards?

I started playing Tropico 4 last night, and already racked up 7 hours of playtime.

I can see how people sink hundreds of hours into games like Civilization now.

THPS2 was the GOAT skate game. Everything else has been down hill.

It's a giant fucking mess.
There's a toybox open world kinda mode where you can smash all kinds of shit together and make your own games. All figures are forwards compatible in that mode, but none of them are backwards compatible.

There's also some story stuff in there, where you can't mix it up (you can't play through the star wars shit with marvel figures) and for that only the figures for that specific version works, I think?

The bases work with all the games though.

Picked up Tales From The Borderlands.

This might just be my favorite Telltale game to date. The world of Borderlands is so well realized in this game, that I now want an animated series. Telltale really outdid themselves with this one. I was expecting nothing, and have been absolutely blown away from what I've played so far. The writing is superb, and it's easily one of funniest games I've ever played. It's honestly as good as any animated show on television right now.

The gameplay is what you've come to expect from Telltale. Nothing new here. It's the story and characters that keep you engaged, and so far this game is perfect in that regard.

If I had a complaint, it would the same complaint from the rest of their games. What's up with choppy frame rate on consoles? It's inexcusable at this point. I don't get it. What is it about this fairly basic game engine that hates consoles?

Activision published it. Robomodo developed it. I think it uses the Unreal 3 engine, if so the graphics shouldn't be that terrible.

It looks like they followed the recent trend of releasing a half finished game and plan on patching it later on down the road while calling it DLC and charging for it. Day 1 patch was over 7gb and it's still broke.
I still don't get the pricing either, it's $60 for modern consoles and will be $40 for 360/PS3 when released later on.
I read somewhere else Activisions license or whatever you want to call it with Tony Hawk ends this year. I'm guessing they were just trying to make 1 last buck before they lose the rights.

Piss-poor optimisation at a guess. I remember the new Sam and Max games taking forever to load off the HDD. You'd think they'd sort this kind of thing out, but I guess they don't care cos people are buying regardless.

So I bought Monster Hunter Tri off ebay and got it in the mail today. I just put it in yo make sure it works.... And now I realize you cant use a damn Gamecube controller. Uggh that means I have to buy one of those Wii Pro ones or suffer through the damn Wii combo.

For anyone whos played it, Is it even playable with the Wii remote?

It's a full price retail game.
Made by the guys that gave us Tony Hawk Ride, Tony Hawk Shred, and Pro Skater HD, all miserable failures in every possible way.

I wouldn't trust those people to make shitty hidden object phone games, much less anything with physics. And I'm sure activision didn't give them a lot of resources to work with. They certainly completely buried it when it came to marketing.

Honestly, this looks like the best possible outcome.
I'd rather have something so shitty it makes for some funny youtube videos than another one like pro skater hd which was just bad enough to be sad.

It's frustrating. Companies put out buggy games and then try to patch it later. Look at the new Batman, they started giving out refunds for PC users because they couldn't fix the issues.
I wish they'd push the dates back and fix all the bugs first.

I've been playing the heck out of Saints Row 3 on the PC. I played it on the PS3 before, but not a lot, but I maxed the video settings out and I love how much better the controls are than GTA (and I prefer the 360 controller to the PS3's, so that helps).

Mad Max is one of those games that'll take forever to 100% with how much side shit there is to do.

Shoddy ports are what I hate about PC gaming. It ought to be the best platform, and generally is, but too many publishers don't really give a fuck and farm the PC version out to whoever will do it for the least amount of money, and then have the cheek to blame pirates when no-one buys the game.

been playing quakelive again recently. For those who don't know it's a remake of Quake 3 (a fast-paced FPS) accessible online for free just go on www.quakelive.com
They've actually just re-done it with new gametypes more accessible to new players ;)

It's also being launched on steam today :)

An unannounced and unreleased South Park game has been found on a debug original Xbox console, and it looks like it might have been an interesting combination of South Park characters and Grand Theft Auto.

The game was supposedly being developed by Buzz Monkey Games, but one thing or another happened, leading the company to never finish the product. While the build of the title was discovered by Nintendo Age moderator qixmaster, the folks over at the HappyConsoleGamer YouTube channel got a hold of it, and managed to upload a gameplay video.

The video, which can be seen below, shows off a very unfinished build of the game, but it does contain some of South Park‘s main characters. It also features what looks like an open-world city to explore, drive in, and even fight in.

It is, seems to be preferred from what I've read. Ultimate, though, has no support for wiimote/nunchuk.

So I found Dying Light for $20 and figured "fuck it, it's $20" and bought it. So far this shit sucks. I probably should have read more feedback, but the voice acting SUCKS, the one thing is lauded for, graphics, are middling, the detail at distance is a joke compared to titles like Far Cry 4, the zombies look like crap and have poor detail, and so far it seem the whole point is to never engage and just jump around avoiding things.

Do I eventually kick some zombie ass? I feel like I fucked up and bought a turd. I'd be raging if I paid $60 for this shit.

Saints Row 3 is the tits. I feel like replaying it now

I've been playing Shadowrun Returns and it's ok. Selling me on the whole cyberpunk aesthetic though so once I'm done, I'll go and play some older Shadowrun games as well as the Syndicate games. Might even get the Syndicate fps

You eventually get better equipment and zombie bashing becomes more satisfying and viable, but basic gameplay doesn't change or anything. I thought it was decent overall but I couldn't wait to finish it and move on

Should be getting Battletoads in the mail this week.

I feel like I've finally arrived when I can now answer "yes" when someone asks me if I have Battletoads.

Started playing Kameo this morning on Rare Replay
Decent game so far

Chuffed to bits that I can have Super Meat Boy on my PS4 now.

Gutted that it doesn't sound like it did on my 360 :(

games for gold looking better than ps plus

Anyone know of the cheapest place to buy Morrowind on PC?

Check your guy"s emails if you signed up for fables legends beta. Just got the code tonight.

Finally picked up Bioshock Infinite (for 9.99$), I know its about a year old and most definitely looks/runs better on PC (I got it for PS3), but god damn this game looks good, I'm really impressed so far with it. I'm really surprised with the violence! man the sky hook executions are absolutely brutal.

Why in the BLUE HE// can't this game get ported over to the West?!?! This is really starting to TICK ME OFF!!!!!!!1111

I played it a few months back through PS+. Pisses all over Bioshock 2. Gonna have to get the DLCs once my PS3's fixed.

New 10 minute trailer for Borderlands The Pre Sequel
Cant wait for this game to be released

I like the 360 controller. It's about the best one for me, but I have nerve damage in my left arm/hand. It's easier for me to use than a playstation controller.

There are some budget gaming mice/mouses that are good for most games where you need some extra keys for keybinds. My friend has a Redragon like this one but not exactly that model. If it were left-handed I'd definitely get it. Don't know that it'd be the thing I choose for Morrowind, but for general gaming I'd love a left-handed version that's not fucking Razer.

I always end up buying the Borderlands games at full price then get bored after a couple hours playing them. Want to say I won't make the same mistake again but realistically ...

Yup, just checked it myself! About to jump on that deal. Also, what is everyone's best recommendation for a PC controller? I'm thinking about using my xbox360 controller but I don't have that stupid little connector piece.

That's what I use. The PC version which just adds the connector I think. Almost any game you can just plug in and play.
