General Gaming Discussion, v3

Yea, i won't deny its a quality made game.

But never understood the whole "game of the generation" shit. Thing for the first few hours is barely a game at all. Sit and watch cinematics, and in game scripted events.

Then why the fuck do you like Metro? the first part of that game is the same thing and it's linear with more of a focus on stealth too.

I enjoyed it, but the start is a real slog. When a game starts really slowly it kills replayability for me.

Playing through Zone of the Enders HD again, since I got stuck at a point and had nooo idea what to do.

This introduction is extremely wordy.

After beating the game I completely agree with you. Very underwhelming story and I hated the ending. It's a well made game...don't get me wrong, but I feel like it was massively overhyped.

Imo, the "game of a generation" title goes to Mass Effect.

so tired of this damn game. i wish we had another kind of RTS to watch instead of Stupid star craft

I'm enjoying Starcraft but it would be nice to see more RTS and less MOBA in the e-sports scene.

I think the reason MOBAs are getting more popular is that they have more objectives and statistics that you can watch for. It's easier for people to follow in that regard.

Yeah there's a high barrier of entry to even watching competitive Starcraft, never mind trying to play it. MOBAs are easier to pick up imo, at the cost of less depth.

The only competitive RTS I see on the horizon is the new SCII expansion, which is a shame.

I thought tlou was amazing but mass effect was epic easily game of the generation.

I couldn't possibly agree more. To me, Starcraft 2 is just fucking boring. The franchise has barely even changed or evolved since 1998. I absolutely loved the original game and its Brood War expansion back in the day, but I've since moved on. You can only play the same game for so long before you start itching for something else--something different.

The only promising upcoming RTS that I know of is Grey Goo, which is being made by Petroglyph (a bunch of the old Westwood guys) and looks to be doing some really cool stuff. Here's one of the most recent videos showcasing the incredibly unique Goo faction:

Too bad we can't get another proper Age of Empires sequel. And how kick-ass would an Age of Mythology or even Rise of Nations sequel be? With today's technology, it seems like there's a lot they could do with those franchises. I hate how diluted the RTS genre has become since the mid-00s. It would be nice to see it boom once again.

You obviously never played either Metro game seeing as your comment makes no damn sense..

TLOU is a glorified interactive movie IMO. Overrated.

what the fuck? it was one of the most underrated shooters at the time.

I've beaten the first Metro and have nearly finished the 2nd.

The first Metro is painful at first, slow and full of faux cut-scenes. then it's linear with a focus on salvaging between the combat.

Unless you play it on easy.

Heavy Rain is an interactive movie and to classify TLOU in that same bracket, you certainly gotta be one special moron.

I'd say the same about you. I don't think that anyone who has actually played through TLOU could call it a "glorified interactive movie."

LOL. Except that TLOU has among the best 3PS game play there is, especially remastered at 60 fps. Playing on survival is one of the most tense games out there combining action, stealth, and survival horror elements perfectly. Maybe it's not your thing, but to portray the game as an interactive movie makes you look completely biased.

Is anyone actually playing Far Cry 4 yet? I haven't heard a peep about this game.

Makes me wonder how big of a dent GTA V's first-person mode has put in its sales and popularity.

I'm gonna boot it up straight after work here. It is unnervingly quiet though
