Before that fight, mind you... a lot of people were saying that Gary is the guy with the skillset and experience to beat Fedor. Of course most of us were like "pfff". But hey he could punch, wrestle, and had experience.

I've never seen anyone completely obliterated like that fight. It was like a fucking silverback versus a man.

The calm "celebration" makes it even crazier. Vintage Fedor.

He's doing a lot better these days. The meds he's on help a lot. That and a steady coaching gig have got him doing all right.

Fedor was supposed to win that fight - IF HE TOOK HIM DOWN.

In a stand up fight, everybody thought Gary would win.

Fedor went in and took him to school. Nobody expected that back then.

In hindsight, okay, "Fedor crushed a can", but back then, destroying Gary on the feet was a big deal.

I don't think so. But that Japanese referee did make every single fight look like an attempted murder until Tamura gave him a serious caution for stopping too late.

This is arguably my favourite beatdown in MMA history and a clear example to the newer MMA fans of how athletic and explosive Fedor was in his prime, despite the fact that he was not black and playing in the NBA.

An interesting footnote to this fight is that in April of that year Goodridge went the distance in a surprisingly competitive contest with Mark Hunt in K1. Coupled with his KO of Bernardo (which was avenged brutally) and draw against Musashi a lot of people, myself included, saw Big Daddy's standup game as posing a real challenge to Fedor if he chose to keep it there. As it turned out, it really wasn't at all. The GnP was just so beautiful to watch too.
