One take down attempt.
Managed to do only one attempt.
One take down attempt.
LMAO!
huh?
What are you rambling about? It means whenever he tried to clinch he was shrugged off. He had troubles to even get himself in a position to be able to attempt takedowns.
Oh yeah, he would clean out HW for sure. I just can't understand why he hasn't even taken one fight. How's he going to do everything you say he's going to do without taking a fight? It's so strange how he keeps saying he's going to take a fight and then never does. I'm trying to think of anyone else who ever did that for years. Usually people just take a fight and don't talk about this much. Both Ngannou and Gane have invited him to fight in the near future, has he responded to that yet, has he said anything at all?You are overlooking a few aspects of the fight. Jon Jones is a natural heavyweight with an enormous frame, reach, and height advantage over most of his 205 opponents. Keep in mind, Jon has already defeated many 205lbers that have successfully completed at heavyweight. Look no farther than DC.... But remember, Jake O Brien, Brandon Vera, Rashard Evans, Machida, and many others.
This is not anything new. He trains with heavyweights all the time.
In his grappling match with Hendo, he was a natural 235.
Jon's wrestling utilizes trip takedowns, which will work extremely well on larger opponents. His trip takedowns present problems that Game/Francis have not dealt with.
Jon Jones' striking from distance including his lethal clinch Game; presents another set problems game/francis have had to deal with...objectively;. Amongst Jones' trip takedowns, clinch elbows, and strong kicking game, Jones presents MANY new problems Game/Francis have yet to face in the Octogon.
What are you rambling about?
Do you think there is only one method of takedown in a fight?
Do you know what takedown attempt means ?
Don't you know that most of Jones takedowns comes from the clinch? Theyre trips mostly. His actual wrestling is so overrated.
He outwrestled Daniel Cormier, and let me tell you,. DC WANTED to out-wrestle Jones Badly, and vice-versa! So I count that way more than when both fighters decide to strike, and one fighter lands a surprise takedown;. Ie-- Usman Vs Edwards II.
Justin Gaethge was asked why he wasn't utilizing his takedowns given his strong pedigree as an NCAA Division 1 All-American. He explained that wrestling expends A LOT of energy, especially single or double-leg takedowns. To complete a takedown, wrestlers chain together takedowns...... The initial entry, a knee tap, or single leg takedown, for example, is not always meant to work as an isolates technique. Rather, it initiates a scramble where the superior grappler will improve his position and leave the defender off-balance for the successful takedown.
However, in MMA, this requires energy. In an MMA match, if the opponent is not as good as you at wrestling, but a competent defender, it requires even more energy. At some point, a fighter may decide to conserve their gas tank and not complete the chain of takedowns. It does not mean that they cannot outwrestle their opponent, but only means the reward for using the energy doesnt warrant expending the energy needed for the takedown;. Preferring to strike instead, etc
He outwrestled Cormier once he was gassed, which correlates with your last paragraph. If Jones' wrestling was so good he would have used it in his last fights instead of letting it go in the hands of judges.
Never lost a fight and beat an world class wrestler
It is what it is.
That has nothing to do with the discussion, which is about Gane VS Jones.
Imo Gane takes it with ease. Jones has shown nothing in the past 4 years to suggest he would win.
It negates everything you expressed as simply personal opinion.
Your feelings about Gane are noted, its the same opinion colourlessly expressed about many fighters after they have a victory, (starting with Shogun)
"They're the one to beat Jones"
Has never been the reality to date.
You base your whole assessment off a pre-usada Jones outwrestling a severely gassed Cormier some 8 years ago.
Sounds like an opinion to me. A biased one.
Jones beat a world class wrestler, twice.
That's not opinion, that's simply fact.
DC was rendered unconscious in their second encounter and was unable to physically best Jones. He beat him once. Thats a hard fact.
DC was rendered unconscious in their second encounter and was unable to physically best Jones.
All this is irrelevant, the man has never been beat.
You hope in your emotions, Gane will be the next great hope to do it as many have hoped before.
