Gamrot’s Time to Shine

He's got a great shout. But the fact this conversation is taking place when Kutateladze is in the division shows you just how ridiculously strong this division is.
I'm a fan but he lost that Tsarukyan fight. This should be Arman vs Dariush.
Both fights were super close. You can find arguments in favor of each of the fighters.

Dariush is up in age and tends to gas, that's not good, especially against monster like Gamrot. Besides a hail Mary one shot ko, Gamrot has Dariush covered everywhere.

What is insane is how talented Dariush is on the ground, and yet, it's not a factor against the balanced, physical Gamrot. I underestimated Gamrot until I started paying more attention to his game, truly legit.

I remember when 95% of Sherdog was sure Gamrot was going to be easy work for Arman.
Now he's the next biggest thing.
Keep overcompensating Sherdog.

Dariush will by far be his hardest fight ever. I think a win will sky rocket him to be in title talks. I think a loss doesn't hurt him that bad actually. Time is on his side.

Arman is better than Dariush.

Yeah I don't see that as Gamrot doing worse on the ground than Dariush though

I think that's an example of Gamrot's really, really high-level fight IQ/energy management

I shouldn't have said worse, but he certainly did a lot less. And even though he got that finish, it was kind of odd and ferreira said that rib was injured going into the fight (true or not, I don't know), but i also felt like that fight was very, very close. I actually had ferreira pulling away that round before the rib thing.

Either way, both guys beat ferreira. We'll find out who is better next weekend.

I can't imagine Gamrot gets the next title shot.

It's very possible that Volk is next.

If Islam wins it's going to be a clean slate for Dustin, Chandler, and Gaethje since Islam never fought them. So at least one of those gets made probably the Winner of Dustin vs Chandler.

None of that is even to speak of the possibility of Conor being 1 tune up from a title shot.

I forgot about Volk. Even though I think he's too undersized for LW, a dominant champion moving up in weight is the one person deserving to jump ahead of everyone for a title shot.

Porier, Gaethje, and Chandler being gifted title shots would be the only downside to Islam winning. Chandler, if he wins, would be an interesting test for Islam but Porier and Gaethje need a couple more wins first.

if dariush wins easily thats actually a big knock against armaan whose stock will go down big time

I dunno. I've followed Gamrot's career for a while and he has just never really appeared all that impressive. He always seems to squeak by even when he looks good. I guess we'll find out how solid he really is after the Beneil fight.

I still think that Arman won the fight, but all Arman's potential is based off giving Islam a hard fight. It's also off looking better against people that Islam also fought or easily beating fighters Islam fought (Ramos and Alvarez).
Gamrot and Armen both looked good grappling wise when they fought, but I found both striking underwhelming. They could always outwrestle the top guys, but I think they get caught at this stage to be honest.

Gamrot will finish beneil I think …. And I like beneil

gamrot the real deal - could be the only guy I’d favor over Islam

I hope he gets the next TS

I think he’s the toughest fight in the division for both Islam and Oliveira

He has some of the best wrestling/grappling in MMA history IMO just judging by the eye test… he’s such a pleasure to watch if you’re a grappling nerd

Yeah his wrestling is smooth as. Looks like a guy who trains straight up wrestling whilst also training ‘mma wrestling’

Gamrot disengaged very quickly everytime he took ferreira down, and to ferreira's credit, he was scrambling like a mad man in that fight. Ferreira was great, though. It's a shame age and injuries caught up to him at the same time when the ufc finally started to let him facce ranked guys.

CDF is one of those 'could have been great' fighters that aged out after spending too much of his prime on the shelf.

Dariush fought CDF coming off a 6 fight win streak, Gamrot fought CDF coming off back to back losses and another year older. Timing means a lot in MMA and when you start to lose a step, it goes quickly, especially on the wrong side of 35.

Back to the point of the matchup at hand, its hard to say where Dariush is right now. He broke his fibula and injured his ankle, we're looking at well over a year on the shelf now. This is a favorable time for Gamrot to fight him.

This is a huge opportunity for him in his sixth UFC fight. I think he gets it done against Dariush, who I feel is a bit overrated. He just beat a better opponent in Tsarukyan. Does Gamrot win and get a title shot?

Dariush overated ?? Go look at his wiki on paper he should have the belt
