I bought some headphones today, not gaming but just for tv use and music.

Got sennheiser 4.40bt wireless headphones

They were on sale so why not. They can replace my cheap mpow pair

Are steelseries Siberia 200 complete shit? I see a lot of mic issues, but they are the only open set under fifty that has a mic.

So the sennheisers hd 4.40bt are ok but not anywhere near the sound quality of the Astros. They dont really feel as comfortable, and the cups are small.

They are ok for mid budget headphones but compared to the mpow I bought for $30 these arent as big of a step up as I hoped. The quality feels pretty cheap/similar to mpow, a cheap plastic feel.

As far as sound quality, The bass is much better. Instruments and Synths arent very clear though imo.

All in all ill keep them but they arent anything special. The BT connection is good though.

I ran a movie and had both my Astros a50s and the Sennheiser running so I could switch back and forth.

I was thinking I might use the Sennheisers for movies or tv since its easier than reconfiguring the base station of the astros from xbox to pc mode (which is pretty easy but im lazy and it takes 30 seconds)

No way in hell. I have a new appreciation for my astros, the clear sound, the dolby atmos surround sound effect just cant be matched.

The Astros are just amazing for movies.

Just when I had given up all hope on the sennheiser gsp600, even on several occasions, I had almost pulled the trigger on canceling them, out of nowhere they are scheduled to arrive by Thursday. Now whether that happens or not, I don’t know, I am skeptical because on the other set of gsp300 they kept changing the date on me.

On another note, I also am waiting for monoprice retros, which are bass heavy budget headphones(I almost said cans-shit!). I wanted something fun and inexpensive while i waited for the expensive gsp’s. These cost me $30 for the headphones and $30 for the new ear cups I ordered for them and another set I need them for. I currently have the brainwave sheepskin memory foam on my superlux668b’s and they really changed the sound and I am trying to figure out why.

The ear pads will affect the sound, but usually if you go from leather to velour. These were fake leather to real leather and the result was better sound imaging. I find that no matter how comfortable, I am not a fan of leather, but these are more than tolerable.

Picked up the Hyperx Cloud 2 and am satisfied with them. Easily the lightest headset Ive ever owned.

I cant really judge too well because i just havent owned that many headphones. I got them on sale and after reading tons of reviews it would seem they are decent headphones for the money.

Most of the bad reviews were people with big heads who found them too tight, but I dont have a big head so it doesnt bother me.

I got the monoprice today. Early thoughts are that they are the mirror image of superlux 668b. By mirror, I mean the same but reversed. These are incredibly bass heavy where as the supers are treble blasters.

i love it and it was a good price. its only $80 now but, when i bought it like 3 or so years ago it was about $160. I will always buy turtle beach because of their awesome customer support. my mic broke and they replaced it for free plus it arrived in 2 days.

I got razer kraken. They are very good for gaming with the surround sound feature. Specially for stuff like CS where you can hear the footsteps and exactly where people are before you see them.

So. I was listening to the monoprice last night and I found a few songs that they did not handle well. The higher frequency range in “the funeral” by band of horses and “be calm” from fun had some issues with sibilance(where higher frequencies have a hiss or cause an uncomfortable feeling) being real harsh and I felt it in my teeth. But they are very nice for breaking Benjamin and other rock music.

So, after ordering a pair of these headsets at the beginning of February, I finally got my gsp600s today. I will need some more time with these for a proper opinion, but here are some early thoughts/observations.


The ear cups make for a very tight seal that cuts out almost all external sources of sound. Whether that is good or bad, depends on the person. I like to listen to music while i game, so this wasn’t exactly a negative, but I wish I could hear my music while my phone is next to my ear-you can’t.


The ear cups are small, and even though you can adjust the headband to fit any size head, the small cups always make it feel a little tight.


The look of these things are just simply awesome. So damn sexy and very well made.


The sound is great. I obviously need more time like I said, but two hours of gaming, about 30 mins of music and a movie-10 clover field lane, so I have no complaints about the sound. The music I listened to was breaking Benjamin, a few songs from FUN, and. “Where is my mind” piano cover. I plan to listen to some more songs later.


The volume knob(wallume wheel according to Damir Franc) is nice and stiff and easy to find while wearing and it does not stick out visibly-it looks like part of the design.


The boom mic has the raise to mute feature, which is nice. The boom feels sturdy and stays in place so far.


The headband is highly adjustable with sliding adjustments to fine tune and tweak the tightness.


The headband padding is thin, but soft. It does not matter, though, as it barely touches your head.


The earcup material is soft and pliable, a leather and mesh hybrid. The length of the cup is ample, but the width is just a bit on the small side. There’s a tightness and pressure right behind my ear that i can’t seem to adjust away, And this is my only complaint thus far. Maybe with more time, i will find that sweet spot that makes these perfectly comfortable.


My early thoughts are this: a high quality headset with gorgeous looks, innovative volume control and boom mic. Sound is great, comfort is good, but after 2 hours, they began to hurt just a bit behind the ear. But keep in mind that this is only a few hours of use. I expect them to loosen up and I will get better fine tuning the adjustments.

These are my primary gaming headphones. Sony WI-1000X. They have a wide sound stage although the top and bottom is a little narrow, they work amazingly for FPS games. Super crispy.

You're looking for a different term. Earbuds by the very nature of their construction cannot have a truly large sound stage.

Just so long as you are not getting the flights(hyper x wireless)for Xbox-not wireless for Xbox and the chat does not work unless on wireless mode. This made me pretty disappointed with hyper x, and I loved my cloud 2’s.


I have really liked my plantronics rig 800s. Pretty good sound for gaming headsets, 24 hour battery life, comfy as all hell.

Other than those, I tried the steelseries arctic 7, but I found those much too quiet and the sound seemed muffled(explosions and such). And I had the Astro a50 version 3 for about a month. My two biggest complaints were the mic did not always want to work and i would have to restart everything and the $300 price tag, which now that i use actual headphones, seems so ridiculously high.

You're looking for a different term. Earbuds by the very nature of their construction cannot have a truly large sound stage.

I wondered the same thing, though according to tech syndicate, the Apple ear buds have as open a soundstage as you can get for earbuds.
