Too true:
I think of modern-day FPS seasons as content calendars, or perhaps more fitting – time-bombs. This blueprint, garb, elite operator, CQ execution, unit patch, reticle, vehicle vanity what have you can only be obtained during that respective calendar or countdown, which draws on, for many, our FOMO and impels user engagement, I suspect; keeping things ever fresh plays a role too. Anything on a level of gameplay or setting exists outside of these calendars and so playing with a blind eye to all of the above is (largely) as viable as following all of it. Does that help at all?I legit still don’t even understand what a “season” is in modern COD games. I put in hundreds of hours into MW2 and BO2 back in the day which did not have seasons, but then took like five years off and only started dabbling in COD again once I got my PS5 last year and picked up Modern Warfare and Cold War.
