Television Game of Thrones S08E06 Discussion Thread: Burn them all! (the writing staff) | Our Watch has ended

what's edgy about not liking abandoned plot lines, bad writing, rushed story lines, and plot holes?
And whats bad with liking the finale that skips all the boring filler crap? None of the hbo executives had problems with the finale. Even George Martin liked it. Lmao!

D&D literally said she forgot about the fleet lol

Right on. You saw my first point. There’s a bunch of stuff after that.

1. The official explanation from the writer of the episode himself is that she forgot about Euron and the fleet.

2.How exactly do you ambush an enemy who can quite literally see you from a mile way?

Look at this. Euron pulled this off thanks to tv magic and plot necessity. No real life situation or GoT-like real life situation allows him to pull of the kill without revealing himself.

I'd even argue Dany had an even clearer view than the one in the concept art picture.

How does arguing that the logistics of the ambush are bad contradict the fact that she was ambushed?

Like, that’s literally what happened on the show.

That’s like if I said Euron shot a dragon and now you respond with how impossible it was for that to happen. Ok, so what? That’s still exactly what happened.

This has been happening routinely in these threads. Someone says something completely and objectively true, like Dany got ambushed, and then someone posts a bunch of crap about something that has nothing to do with the point.

I’m not arguing how well done it was. I’ve actually said numerous times how poorly done it was. Nevertheless, that is in fact exactly what happened.

Season 8 is probably Dr. Manhattan's fault.....

It's not an ambush if your opponent is right in the open waiting for you in th middle of the sea.

Stop it.

This is really the hill you want to plant your flag on? A semantical nitpick of the definition of ambush?

Even in that you lose. An ambush is a surprise attack. What happened on the show was a surprise attack attack.

Stop it.

What can I say, I'm a petty fucker. Believe it or not that scene actually doesn't trigger me that much. I just stumbled into a discussion that I disagree with.

It was a "surprise attack" only to Khaleesi because she kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet. Euron is a camper.

Must suck when you're the only dwarf in the group, he should've gone as the Mountain or something to subvert expectations.

that was great!

Bran didn't have to be involved in the NK kill but their plan to kill the NK makes no sense if Bran cant do anything to help. They lured him into a trap with no actual trap. Did they think Theon was going to 1v1 him and win o_O

The NK and TER are yet another plotline that was first rushed and then outright abandoned because they insisted on weapping it up in 6 episodes. Seems clear there was meant to be more substance there.
The plan was for Dany and Jon to jump the NK with the dragons, but then Dany rides off like a muppet, Jon follows her on Rhaegal and the entire plan starts to fall apart.

I've assumed all along that GRRM created something that he didn't know where to go with it. We don't know how the three eyed raven came to be in the first place. He didn't have any power. GRRM had to have written the scene where Bran met the three eyed raven. There weren't any White Walkers in the scene to control the dead that came up out of the ice. They tried to get into the tree but didn't surround it which allowed for Bran to escape out the back door on a sled pulled through the snow by a girl while Hodor held the door in the worst writing ever. The dead couldn't follow a sled trail? Nothing in the last two seasons matched that stinker.

We never found out what happened to Benjen to turn him into whatever he was.

I wonder if there are as many loose ends in the books.
Benjen had a dragonglass shard shoved into his chest by the children of the forest as he was dying. It prevented him being taken over by the white walkers.

and

The sled trail would be covered over in minutes, they were in a snowstorm.

Would've been funny if Dany had knocked the Night King off Viscerion and onto a dragonglass spearhead or something, then he shattered, the white walkers shattered, the wights died, and the dragon gave up the ghost (Jon Snow pun intended)
