Man this show is so frustrating to think about

If its just the story of Jon Snow's tragic life, and Dany's fall and the tragic connection they shared.
Just make it about that

I wish GRRM had never been involved
if this had been the tone the entire time, it wouldn't have been nearly as interesting to start with but at least it would have been consistently good and may have even been nearly as successful

But now this and last season just kind of stand out. And the thing is they're really not that bad when taken by themselves (except for the long night, that was a terrible indefinsible episode and I will die on the hill smearing it, from this day till my last).
So many things from earlier seasons just seem useless, I can buy that the theme of these past two seasons is war changes everyone, and things stay the same - but that's been done so many times. This show at one point felt fresh and interesting and unpredicatable. Now it just feels like a story we've heard time after time. I think that's why the best TV shows, in terms of critical acclaim, or so character focused. Its hard to tell new stories, they've all been done in some way before, but a character focused show gives you so many possibilities from the characters themselves to the interaction, the stories even if they're rote and trope filled still feel different because it feels like a natural byproduct. Its a bummer to see a show shift midway through, but I guess its to be expected. You can almost forgive D and D for struggling to adapt it, because GRRM it might have taken 10 seasons to do it justice.

I see now why Disney wanted D&D to make some Star Wars movies for them, they are great at bland stories that end predictably.

That scene was so fucking cringeworthy. Listening to Davos, Bronn, Sam and Tyrion arguing about financing the reconstruction of King’s Landing’s brothels?
For Christ’s sake listening to them it’s as though a million people weren’t just massacred two weeks earlier.

Frankly, it is the best and most awesome small council the show ever had.

Vast, vast majority of people will never know his ancestry.
What about Varys letters warning all the houses that jon was the true heir?!?!

This was so stupid.

There is a council with all of them to decide who will be king, and there is NO MENTION from anyone there to consider jon snow, even with tyron there?
The person who has the rightful claim. The one who fought to defeat the white walkers. The one who killed denearys!

Nope, they send him to exile and everyone acts and just accept it like thats ok and there is no other option

It was great aside from him burning the throne. Not sure why he cared about that, unless we're supposed to think he somehow could see the throne as a symbol of Dany's aspirations getting the best of her and all that shit. Might as well have just started talking to Jon at that point.
I think he was just lashing out. Maybe it was supposed to be symbolic but the writing was all over the place.

Tthe throne I admit I started wondering if that was supposed to mean something but then I remembered Drogran kept nudging Dany repeatedly before realizing she was dead. So one would assume he only has basic animal understanding.

But why have him sniff the knife and get Jon's scent? It doesn't make sense
An Unsullied heard the tail end of Tyrion convincing Jon to do the "right thing". Grayworm should have eviscerated Tyrion on the spot. They just killed his Queen, now he is going to let this council composed of known traitors to his just murdered decide on the future of the 7 Kingdoms? Hell no!

Knowing that Tyrion was a traitor and conspiring against their Queen, they let him walk right up to her from behind with that mean mug on his face? Then the sister of Traitor Sansa who wiped out the whole Frey clan appearing like Walder Frey TO HIS FAMILY! and destroyed the NightKing with an unseen sprint through an army of undead that could get her an instant contract as Kick/Punt returner with any NFL team and they are going to let her waltz right through the Unsullied right up to Dany like that?

Come on Gray Worm! Disappointed!
Yeah, I mean maybe if Jon convinced Grayworm that Dany had become way worse than Cersei but it's hard to see any ending other than a battle to the death.

Misansra had basically told them burn the city with her final breath and Grayworm had just become Master of War. He would have been furious and never would have left his fate up to a new king picked by the counsel let alone Jon's brother

As to the wall, i dont know enough the books, but prior to Mance Rayder uniting them were the Wildlings ever a really massive threat?

and the NK hadn't been around in what, 1000 years, and nobody even believed he or the white walkers existed, yet they still manned the wall and had been forever...

So it's not THAT far fetched, or maybe i'm just Yao'd
Wildling incursions were always a problem, though never a huge threat.

It was actually 10,000 year I believe, since anyone had seen a White Walker.

Why did prisoner Tyrion decide everything lol.

And how did they know that Jon killed Dany? There was no evidence. Did he seriously walk out and say "Oh yeah, I stabbed yer queen and killed her. The dragon took her. Sorry lol"
Better question is how the hell did he get out of there alive? He just killed the queen of the seven kingdoms, and her crew isn't exactly known for mercy.

this is what @MusterX is alluding to
its actually a good decision to ignore his parentage and pick his brother in the context of what was happening

but at least mention the shit, it almost makes me think R+L=J might not even be the story in the books, because it was so irrelevant to the story
feels like Dany and Jon split plotlines that fake-Aegon will have in the books. Making Jon a Targ might have only been so that made a bit of sense

yeah why did they take him alive lol
they were just murdering Danys enemies in the street
