Television Game of Thrones S08E06 Discussion Thread: Burn them all! (the writing staff) | Our Watch has ended

Out of all the character arcs I think D&D fucked up, Jon's ending makes the most sense. He started the show as a dumbass, and he ended the show as a dumbass. He was a static character who never learned from his mistakes, even after dying from them. He was always too dumb to end up on the throne. Sending him back to the Wall fits his stupid personality perfectly. So I guess he's the King Beyond the Wall now?

Jon pet Ghost so 10/10. Best episode of the season.
Some people are doers, others read books. Jon Snow is the fucking GOAT of getting things done.

How did you get here so fast? The nerd tears have become a vast ocean. Nearly drowned myself, and had to visit other threads to stay afloat.
I was where i was meant to be

I fast forwarded through about a quarter of the episode...

What I did see I mostly rolled my eyes at.

8 years of all our lives leading up to this...

Its about as bad as I wouldve expected.

Idk why ya’ll thought Jon was ever or will ever be king in this story

That's the one thing that wasn't screwed up. In this story, Jon ending, as the hidden, "secret" heir always was exile or death.

and how is Bran can't have children be a good things, that mean that they going to have to choose a leader again next time and next time when their army are restore, their castle fixed and the economy is running well again, what would stop a war from happening if some of the lords and the ladies are not happy with the decision.

why not choose a leader, that is most qualified that already has an heir and has a rich land to back him and also follow the religion that most of people in seven kingdoms follow.

i know i've said this many times now, but the show rejecting Edmure is basically the show rejecting logic. ( which they have been doing since season 7-8)

I mean the show is never going to come up with a realistic "happy ever after" ending to a medieval society(hence the tease of Sam's unrealistic push for full democracy) is it? limited democracy is not an entirely alien concept to the era given that say the Holy Roman Emperors were elected and further back I suspect is ment to echo the "five good emperors" of the Romance Empire who were adoptet by the previous emperor. In relation to the former especially I think you might argue as well that in this situation the "King" likely would not end up being as absolute a ruler as under the Targs and Westeros would be more federated.

We def needed another episode at least so dany could have time to decorate before getting shanked by the p4p final boss of gettin shit done,Jon "Aegon the Conqueror" Snow.

Oh quit your whining. It's the end of a 9 year journey and you never have to see a GoT thread again after this. Let the dorks have their fun.

Which I think is why the show was always destined to piss off a lot of people, what stands out to me is that you have so many different reading of where people thought the story was going or what its intended purpose was, especially when it comes to the books.

Personally though what I think the show was most heavily focused on was the misrule of aristocracy. I'v said before that I felt that Stannis provided a lot of the heart of the show from seasons 2-5 pushing the idea of a man who seemed to have the "greater good" in mind being corrupted by power. Rather than basically saying "ok lesson learned our heroes aren't going to do that" we saw it more as a preview of what was to come.

Yeah i mean, the show several times destroyed what i thought would happen, but i didnt get mad,i felt safe with the story and where it went wether i could predict the greater meaning or not.

Im not suggesting westeros to become a democracy or some short, im just saying the most experience great lord, who already has an heir should be a much better choice than bran.
