It was rushed, HBO wanted to give them 10 Seasons with a Blanque Check, but the two writers, Benieof and Weis turned it down and said they could wrap it up in a few episodes, so they can move on to something else.

They were checked out of Writing for Game of Thrones and it showed, especially when they started out pacing the book.

If they wanted to move on,,they should have left the show in the hands of people that cared. But they wanted to wrap it up quickly so they could move on to Star Wars.

Wow was not aware of all that. Would have loved two more seasons.

B&W were such a big part of the show's success... I dunno I could see how they might think it would be better to wrap it up quick and tight rather than have to drag it out. Would trust their judgement normally but if they really ditched it for shitty Star Wars movies tho...
