Yeah both are being ridiculously stupid. Zero reason for Arya to threaten Sansa like that. If she wants to kill her own sister and take her face, then just fucking do it. Don't be a creep and threaten her while advertising your abilities. Like what purpose did that serve?
Worse than a Bond villain revealing his diabolical plan for world domination to James Bond, at least the Bond villain thinks he is about to kill Bond while Arya just walked away after talking about skinning Sansa's face off.

I think it was Arya. Not sure why Sansa would send her away. But if Arya is plotting against Sansa it make sense ot get rid of her bodyguard.
Because LF was implying that Sansa could use Brienne against Arya (which could also be applied the other way around), so Sansa sent her away, using Brienne's past interactions w/ Jaime Lannister as an excuse so that it didn't seem too sketchy (as far as I'm aware, Arya wouldn't know about Brienne & Jaime). Technically, Brienne swore an oath to protect both sisters, so she's no more Sansa's bodyguard than she is Arya's as well.

There is no chance of a zombie convincing Cersei to sign a truce. We've had 6 seasons of her. We know her character.

There was no reason to set out to capture a zombie, much less mount a suicide mission for it. It was completely manufactured solely to set up the Jon fighting Wights and Zombie dragon scenes.

That's the main problem here. They still have their epic moments of the season, but the writing to justify and lead up to these scenes has been atrocious.
well what you know from watching the show isnt what the characters in the show know as they wouldnt have seen what you have... besides little man is banking on his brother talking some sense into her. Plus he knows his sister and thinks her actually seeing it is the only chance. hes hoping with that and his brother in her ear she might come around.

People always complain about the time aspect. It looked like they slept at least one day. It's like everyone wants to see a day stamp at all times in every scene with along with a 24 hour clock in the top right hand corner of the screen. I for one do not want to see wasted scene time on nonsense like this just so people can get make it more believable.

So what about plot armor, it's not like he's not swinging the sword or just destroying everything with his mind. Him almost dying is showing how dangerous things are...and if he does die then people will just complain that whoever comes and kills the Night King is shitty because they didn't develop the character.

If its a less than a day travel, it would had made more sense for Dany to go and see the dead herself and then realize that it such a threat that KLs shouldnt be spared for.

That's the type of thing you do if you watch The Big Bang Theory. That shouldn't be the case w/ GoT. It certainly wasn't a viable way to consume this show in the first four seasons. Idk why it should be consumed any differently now.

Maybe because the first seasons were built on two decades of writing and these ones are not.

They have a few months to write all the episodes for a season and shoot them.

Game of Thrones S07E07 Discussion Thread: Scouting Combine

Gendry - 40 Mile Dash
Night King - 1,000 Yard Hail Mary
Magnificent Seven - Shuttle Run

Lol, I really like this though I don't believe I'll be able to fit all 3 in the thread title, can choose scouting Combine and then 2 of the 3 options you listed

I really just want to skip tot he part where Jon & everyone else finds out his true parentage.

I really that fucking creep Bran, dudes a fucking weirdo and when he dies I'ill celebrate with red wine and a marbled rib eye. @senri

I like the human characters of GoT as they are so well-written. One of my favourite scenes in GoT was a simple one where Lancel Lannister stopped Littlefinger in the streets of King's Landing that time. The character interactions and drama is what makes Game of Thrones great.

Them killing brainless zombies is f**king boring, Transformers, Michael Bay type shit. I don't care about it.

I thought the show was going to flesh out the White Walkers and give them some kind of background, religion, culture, internal conflict to make them interesting ... instead they just seem to be generic bad guy like Voldemort or Sauron or some shit ...

Actually I think the story does very obviously take influence from Lord of the Rings but not IMHO in the fashion you stated. Voldemort is your standard badguy I'd agree in that he exists as a character with a well defined but simplistically evil personality. Sauron and the Nazgul though are much less typical though, they have no personality and for the most part they are fairly distantant from the narrative. This I think gives them a much more threatening presense with the Walkers somewhat replicate for me.

It also means that scenes involving them really aren't based on interaction with them but rather interaction between the characters facing them. Indeed even now the Walkers aren't exactly getting a lot of screentime are they? a couple of quick scenes early in the season and now about 30 mins at the end of this episode.

I don't see how sending a wight to Cersei is a bad idea, they need as many people to fight the Night King as possible.

The plan to send the wight makes sense, but the plan to get the wight is what doesn't make sense to me. Why would you send a bunch of your best warriors on a mission to capture a wight from the most dangerous and biggest army they know? It sounds like a suicide mission with very low chance of survival or success.

Did they think they'd capture one and sneak away without the army noticing? How would they do that when the WW's would know right away. Just seems like a shitty plan.

Because given what we know about Cersei's character, showing her a Wight will not make her an ally. We know this. Everyone at that council knew this. They mounted a suicide mission for no reason at all.

at this pt, post megalodon jumping, you have to treat this show like a male soap opera, ala The Shield or Sons of Anarchy and just try to enjoy the ride

at least it took till like season 7 to get to this pt, SoA they were snatching babies to Ireland like season 2 haha

From what I understand, they were just hoping to encounter a straggler.

As far as we know, besides Jon's other interaction with the Night King, most of the time a wight has attacked, it's been a straggler.

I don't believe that, tbh.

God that was so bad, then they go over there and then come back ALL before the cops can charge them with bail jumping.

No you're over thinking this.

They found themselves in the path of the army of the dead. So Jon sent the fastes man back to the wall and the rest of them just started running away because they had no other option. & guys can't beat that army. They just happened to run onto a frozen lake with a big rock on it. They didn't plan that.

Their plans were simply to run away and send their fastest man separately.

We don't know how long they were on that rock either but it was long enough that when they got their the ice could barely hold 7 guys to being able to hold and entire army

There plan was to runaway and wait for Dany. Exactly. What a ridiculous plan. That would never happen in reality. First they would have to realize that it would take a day if not more for Dany to arrive, and that's only on the assumption that Gendry actually makes it back, the bird actually makes it to dany, and dany actually comes to the rescue, and that dany actually finds them beyond the wall.

I never said jon planed to find a rock to sleep on, I'm saying if that wasn't his plan, then what was his plan? To run around for days waiting for Dany? Why didn't they all just run back to the wall and regroup?

What should they have done besides run away?

That shouldn't be an excuse when there are plenty of shows that are considered to be some of the GOATs, including ones that aren't based off of someone else's source material, that didn't suffer from a similar schedule.
