I see this as Keith Jardine and Diego Sanchez's listed martial art. Apparently it was made up by Greg Jackson of Jackson Submission Fighting.

How the hell did he come up with such a name and what gives with Americans making up Japanese words these days?

I guess it sounds more credible. I see mcdojos naming their style with these weird asian names all the time. Some times they don't make sense and sometimes they're just a combination of different words from different languages. Like, Karate Kwon Sul Do. I just made that up, but I'd bet some unsuspecting victim sees that he might think it's cool and wanna try it out.

Why call it a name everybody can understand like "School of punching and kicking" when you can name it Taekwon Tukgong Musul? Or someshit like that.

I'm not saying Jackson Sub fighting is Mcdojo though.

My favorite will always be Ju-Box-Fu. Really.

haha

I wonder if he admits to prospective students that it's a name he made up considering that he's 0% Japanese. kind of silly really, that Americans like making up names to 'sound more sophisticated':icon_lol:

Lol wtf is that? A combination of Judo, Boxing and kung fu? Or is it another ninja suit-wearing, spinning jumping kicking, mcdojo?

As with anything, some owner of a school made his own system up, but basically it's BJJ with a few tweeks that Jackson dude added to it and made it "Gaido-Jitsu"... Just like Frank Dux made up Dux-Ruy ninjitsu, just like 100's of schools owned by dudes all over or "McDojo" owners. They make themselves black belt, watch a few tapes, then proclaim to be a badass. You'll see these guys getting killed a lot in UFC's 1-5.

But at least the Guido Jitsu guys are for real. Greg Jackson is good and has good guys he trains who are doing well. Definitely not a McDojo

there was a guy in the early KOTC events who called his style ju-box-fu...and you're first guess is right...he had a stable of fighters and they all sucked

Yeah, so does Dragon-ball Z jujitsu.

I always thought I could make a bunch money teaching Mok'bara. The made up Klingon martial art from Star Trek. You know, talk a lot about honor and dying in battle, throw in a few kicks and punches then we can bash each other with batleths.

Unfortunately I'm afraid all my students would look like Kip from Napolean Dynamite.

Ka ju ken bo :icon_chee

On a related note, I invented a term, rando, to describe how some people just spaz out rather than use proper technique.

Greg Jackson guys seem to be animals. Whatever he is doing it works. Who cares what he calls it. I like the idea of changing things and adding differen't areas of combat that work, and making a particular syle out of it. Its the real deal.

How about Kuk Sol Won? The art that Gary Goodridge practises? WTF is that?

It's a Korean art of I don't know. Goodridge doesn't actually know it. He beat some dude at a Kuk Sool Won school and they asked him if he would rep them by wearing the gi at UFC. He got paid for wearing the gi.

He can call his style whatever he wants. I would train in it if I had the chance.

why need armbars if you can shoot a fireball capable of destroying the earth
