The Tibau fight is one of my favorite moments for Khabib, he was clearly not at his best, fighting someone who could stuff his takedowns and obviously not as good (or smart) as he is now. Yet even with his limited skillset a the time he managed to win the fight on sheer pressure. This means he always knows what to do to win, even if it gets tough.

Of course Khabib now is much more cerebral, doing arm bars at the end of a round to set up a triangle in the end of the next or letting his opponent gas himself attempting a guillotine choke, etc. Back then he was full on forward pressure, it was nice to watch.

Another fighter with good wrestling creds that did NOT translate into MMA..

Except Tibau where Khabib went 0 for 13, and got taken down himself.
This was back in 2012 where Khabib was still green though (and may not have been training in AKA), I think?
The modern version of Khabib where he was defending his LW strap is a better version overall, although it's evident from that Tibau fight that physical strength can stave off someone with a skill advantage in grappling, even just a bit.

*excluding Khabib's speed of his takedowns as well as the speed of his transitions between one position to another on the ground.
