i recall gaethje saying something to the effect that he'll never change his style. of course that was before he suffered his first loss. if poirier fights smart, i can see him outstriking gaethje for the first few rounds and then possibly submitting him late. but i could also see gaethje cracking poirier's chin.

either way, the fans win.

Based on what? He hasn't fought "smart" yet. I'm also puzzled by his fans, who say (a) I love his "kill or be killed" style and (b) he's still pretty young and I'm sure he'll start fighting less recklessly and using better gameplans soon.

The fight they had wasn't so much that. I felt Poirier had his number. He was countering and tooling him on the feet until Alvarez threw the illegal strike. Alvarez landed a decent shot but Poirier didn't seem rocked and Eddie was out on his feet. Actually felt that Alvarez knowingly threw that strike out of desperation when I was watching it. Made it more obvious when Eddie tried saying he didn't deserve a rematch when Eddie was losing before that.

I think Dustin has the better technical striking but lacks a chin compared to Justin. Justin has some hellacious leg kicks and is tuff as nails. Both can knock the other out.... I really don't know about this one, but I do know who i'll be rooting for.

Dude, Eddie was turning the tides in that Porier bout before any illegal strikes were thrown.

Dustin has slicker boxing than Justin but seems to load a bit on his shots. Justin going full blitz is a problem for any LW if they aint ready as soon as the bell rings.

I give Justin the edge here, I think he will stick to his leg chopping before going berserk with his hands
