I guess that's how most fighters feel when their opponent has some kind of following, MMA fanboys are as obnoxious as all fanboys and they live vicariously through their fighter of choice. Remember when Khabib vs Conor spilled into fans getting into silly little fights on the way out of the arena? These same losers were all hyped up about whose side "won" to then claim they're part of the stronger or tougher crowd, regardless of whether they support Khabib or Conor, they all felt like a little army. It's pretty much impossible not to cringe at that cause it's so unfathomably dumb and pathetic. If you have that crap talk hurled at you all day, I don't blame Gaethje or anyone else who faces that to be motivated by the idea to make these people choke on the words that they expect another man, i.e. Khabib, to cash the cheque for.

I'm not sure about that. I'm sure there's a significant amount of toxic muslims that take up that fanbase but I wouldn't put it all on them. Even his nonmuslim western fans can be annoying. There's people with russian comments that I'm almost positive are not muslim, but slavic russian.

I really think people live vicariously through khabib and the honor culture even if they're not from that honor culture. Khabib was viewed as the guy minding his own business and conor tried to bully him. so rightfully so, people identified with the guy that kicks the bully's ass. But what the fans fail to realize is, they become the fans they hated.

A lot of Caucasian muslims aren’t afraid to... play dirty to win so to say... a Western kind of code of honor isn’t necessarily the same in other parts of the world, although Muslim views on masculinity is the closest to a European view on masculinity.

Most Conor fans that go over the top are just having fun with the whole thing at the same time, with Khabib it definitely reaches into a whole different creepy level where they defend his honor as if he were their spouse or romantic partner. Only Khamzat is worthy of that kind of bizarre worship.

Khabib is more than a fighter to a lot of people, he is in many ways a muslim hero and role model. A perfect fighter who has never lost and really a “perfect” muslim who is a leader and calm in the face of adversity, no wonder he attracts loyal followers. Conor vs Khabib was kind of a battle of Western decadence vs Muslim sobriety... so it’s more than just a fight, it is a clash of cultures.

I agree with that, but no need to be a dick to other people lol. I think a part of people also come from that honor culture and can't see it just as a martial art after the dust has settled. I'm not talking about conor, but I'm talking about dustin and now gaethje. Some fans can just be crazy. Khabib has some rabid fans. There's no denying this.

But upon looking at the screenshots, gaethje is just getting triggered by the benign stuff. You'd think it was more of the rabid fans. This is typical fan talk. I'm sure every fighter gets this. He just so happens to be going against one with a huge fanbase.

I'm not saying what the fan did was right. I wouldn't talk shit to a fighter, but this is pretty benign stuff. I thought they were coming hard at him like the way they came at chandler for not fighting islam or something way worse.

Basketball/soccer players get this type of trash talk all the time.

Before Khabib got famous most of his fans were mainly from Dagestan and the surrounding area and Russia. You would see his fans spamming #khabibtime on social media, but that's about it. You rarely saw any of his fans bring up religion.

Then Conrat came along and made it about religion. And Khabib's retarded religious fanbase, who don't watch MMA, exploded.

It was Conrat who brought in all these goofs.

Conrat fans won't admit this but this is true.
