I thought the Kana v Rena result was great. Huge Rena fan... but Rizin needed its Takada v Rickson. Can't wait for Rizin in 2018 and reviving JMMA with Tenshin, Kana, Rena and Kyoji.

They still have some big ticket fights if they can pull it off like Takeru v Tenshin and Rena v Kana rematch. Also many young MMA and kickboxing fighters like MIO and Kaito from shootboxing who haven't debuted. Hopefully Saiga, Minrou Kimira and Erson Yamamoto can find their feet again.

Rizen , I think had a decent year plus enough momentum with several fighters as TS mentioned for similar performances in 2018. Not in a position to catapult into the glory Pride days but can sustain, which is a nice alternative periodically from other promotions. Pleasantly surprised by their women’s bouts and followings.

They need to have more idols fighting in the Arena

RENA going limp was the sexiest thing I have ever seen in MMA

The way Kana mounts woman is also very sexy

Men are worthless unless they are studs like Tenshin

MMA needs to become more beautiful to survive

This "PRIDE 2.0" gaff that people keep repeating is the worst Idea I have ever heard in my life.

One Tenshin fight is more entertaining the an entire PRIDE event

PRIDE sucked, we want woman

Yeah you got a point there. Rena obv. Needs to work on her choke defense. But she went out like a G. All bushido warrior spirit. It's amazing, because even when she is choked out she is still beautiful. She looked like sleeping beauty.

<{1-7}> .

a local japanese show that can kick ass...

potential major org if the ufc goes under.

PRIDE revolved on roiders smackin on japanese wreslters.

current mma cannot pass that off as legit.

McCall vs. Kape 2 should have a terrific build and be a terrific fight.

Honestly I don't see big things for it. I'll enjoy it while it's around but I don't think it'll be around in 5 years. I enjoyed Dream and Sengoku although I knew they wouldn't be sustainable.

Pride was apparently bleeding money for the first few years and wouldn't have made it to this century if Naoto Morishita hadn't restructured the organization. AFAIK they also weren't (regularly) on Fuji TV until 2003 when the NYE wars really started. IMO 2018 will define how long Rizin lasts and I feel like they have potential for better ratings if their current stars are given proper match ups.

These NYE events were the most memorable MMA events of 2017 for me and I hope we get to experience them for many years to come.

I doubt K-1 Japan lets Takeru fight Tenshin on another promotion.

Have any Japanese posters or people residing there seen any post event buzz? Like from people or media?

The last hero’s on tbs got higher ratings than all the Dream events this includes the dynamites during the years Dream was active and all the Rizin shows including the nye shows

Except Dream 11 and 9 those events peaked with hero’s legends kid vs warren and Tokoro vs takaya

DREAM TV Ratings
2008-03-15 DREAM.1: 8.9% (Primetime slot TBS)
2008-07-21 DREAM.5: 10.0% (Primetime slot TBS)
2008-09-23 DREAM.6: 9.0% (Primetime slot TBS)
2009-03-08 DREAM.7: 2.4% (Midnight slot TBS)
2009-04-05 DREAM.8: 3.4% (Midnight slot TBS)
2009-05-26 DREAM.9: 16.2% (Primetime slot TBS)
2009-07-20 DREAM.10: 2.0% (Late Night slot TBS)
2009-10-06 DREAM.11: 12.7% (Primetime slot TBS)
2009-10-25 DREAM.12: 1.7% (Late Night slot TBS)

However, in 2007, all four primetime TBS telecasts of Hero's events bested Dream's ratings, with March's Hero's installment gaining a 12.1, June's K-1 “Dynamite!! USA” netting a 11.1, the July 154-pound grand prix opener notching a 10.9 and the September tournament finale earning a 12.5.

In 2006, the four primetime TBS editions of Hero's drew respective ratings of 11.8, 14.5, 9.3 and 14.6

Do you have any idea what kind of ratings Pride used to do on Fuji TV? I've only seen a few peak ratings like Shockwave 2005.

HERO'S > PRIDE
Honestly if it wasn’t for FEG and Tani keeping JMMA alive in the absence of PRIDE we wouldn’t have DREAM. It was Tani’s Willingness to give DSE workers a second chance with DREAM. Hero’s deserves respect

Rizin is better than Pride in every way.... Except the fighters.

Hero’s was DREAM, it was great to see both bitter enemies FEG (K-1 Hero’s) and DSE (PRIDE) join forces against the evil UFC to form DREAM and continue JMMA.

I honestly lost interest in MMA when PRIDE shut down, when Tanigawa announced a merger of the DSE staff combing with FEG Hero’s and said it was a DREAM come true it was absolutely fitting for the name of the New organization.

I hoped DREAM would have continued on but the Earthquake disaster really set back Japan’s appetite for MMA. For a few years..

Sengoku Raiden Champions was also legit!!!
King Mo was made over there and I couldn’t help but to remember 2 FOTY performances from Miskaki vs Santiago
