Hot Take Fun fight but very low level title fight

I don't think that's a hot take at all.

Watching that was a blast, but Topuria, Islam and Arman are all leaps and bounds above them. Probably Charles too.

Entertaining but the drop off in talent from Islam/Ilia to these two is appalling.

Yeah, I tend to agree -- it isn't the most popular opinion right now since so many people loved the fight, but Gaethje / Pimblett was a very flawed (albeit entertaining) title fight with many low level manuevers. I'm not saying they aren't elite fighters, but Ilia won't exactly have his hands full if Gaethje fights like that imo

You're not wrong at all but that was a lot of fun, the type of fight that UFC brass love too, they reward the dumb brawling style.

Dude beat retired Dustin, in a fight he was getting beat up, fiziev (decent win), and chandler (2-4 in the ufc) and now Pimbleton whose last opponents had a combined record of like 0-13 is their last fights… is that the elite of today?

All you can do is beat who’s in front of you. Justin proved time and time again he’s one of the best LW’s. Hes only lost to champs minus Dustin and is a tough test for anyone.

But yeah to answer your question, he’s still a legit top 5 guy at 37.

Eh I think he’d have a good shot against the guys directly below him. Hooker, Gamrot, BSD. I don’t think he beats anyone ranked above him though. Not without developing some offensive wrestling or a little more finishing ability on the feet.

I'd pick bsd and gamrot over paddy. Not sure about hooker. That's just me personally, though. Bsd is basically what paddy fans think paddy is, since bsd actually has a takedown game and can actually crack.
