Friends or Strictly Business?

its a natural thing unless your an asshole
not true...im because i am an asshole, and most of the guys I grapple with still hang with me.

to me, I respect the people who stick with it because it reflects the amount of discipline they have. In the last 3 years the best friends I've made definitely were my bjj training partners.

really good friends.... had punch ups together trained hard for tourne's together....been through heaps together. sometimes its hard to find a difference between the two but we are always there with each other

It usually starts off a stricly business but if you train constantly enough, many friendships develop.

I would only consider 3 or 4 of the guys I train with as good friends, then there're about a dozen guys I have gone and had a few beers with, the rest are just people I train with. I'm finding it harder to find genuinely nice people training these days, unlike 5 years ago. I feel like the TUF show has gotten so many people interested in bjj and so many people with a wannabe MMA fighter mentality that it's harder and harder to meet some genuinely nice and intelligent people in class.

yeah, but the asholes usually wash out after 3 when they realise that this shit isn't as easy as it looks.

i know this thread was kind of wastelandish but thanks for the replies guys. it looks like a lot of people hang out with their training parters. obviously grappling is an important part of our lives.

Same here .

I am friends with a number of people at my school...though the ones that I hang out with outside of class is relatively low - maybe 5 or 6.
