Frankie should have a farewell fight and call it a great career.

The man is a warrior but he is turning 37 this year. He could pull it off if he was a heavy but that aint the situation.

Thank god that he didnt get to fight Mcgregor or Holloway.

You retire when the UFC kicks your ass out. See Chuck Liddell.. oh wait nvm.

No way.

He still has a lot in the tank and has been finished a grand total of once.

He should make a run at the BW belt.

Once is going to turn into twice, then three times, then five times, etc. Seen this movie way too much.

Or he can keep fighting. He looked fine. He got hit. It says nothing about how he matches up with Conor or Max because those are completely different styles.

He should’ve mixed it up more but it became obvious that he was just going to try to box and it was just a matter of time until the bigger Ortega timed him.

It’s a bummer but let’s not pretend he’s past it all of a sudden. He was winning every second of that and looking good doing it and you got to rip the cap to Ortega

you dont have a lot in the thank when you are pushing 37 and have a 13 year mileage.

This was your classic "beginning of the end" fight where an old dog loses in a way he never has before and he still keeps fighting but just goes downhill every time out unless he's matched up with complete cans, in which case he might eke out a decision. See AS/Weidman.

He was winning, and looked great. Just got clipped, it happens.

I still think he'd give Conor a run for his money.

yeah sure keep fighting until he gets ktfo a few more times until he retires at 40 for your own pleasure. He will have a fucked up senior life if he keeps on getting hit in the dome. Aldo, Maynard, Bendo and some other guys put a lot of damage on the guy.... I dont wish him a terrible life after mma.

I think he's 2 wins away for a title shot.

BIG fan of Frankie but I had that eerie feeling that something bad was coming tonight

Not so much that I thought Ortega had his card, but that Frankie's been in so many battles, been around forever, 36 at fw.. It was inevitable

Not sure who Frankie fights next, might have to think about that. Frankie getting finished was bound to happen, and tonight it did.

All time great currently in the top 5 gets finished for first time-

Sherdog: “he should retire”

Frankie should fight Elkins or maybe a Stephens rematch?really is at a cross roads right now

Agreed he has seen a lot of minutes in the Octagon, he's been around a long time and 37 is a wise old age for a cage fighter. But there are many fighters who have more fights to their name and I'm pretty sure that's the first time he's been KOd? Correct me if I'm wrong obviously. If he goes on a streak of KO losses then maybe you're right, but I don't feel he's there yet.

I don’t know if I would call it a “great” career. He got really lucky and caught BJ at his downtown. Edgar is really an arrogant crybaby when you look at it. Bendo and Also both showed that his role of champion was nothing more than a fluke. So glad Ortega could humble him tonight
