He cant get past Aldo, just got beat by Ortega and as much of a fan of frankie as i am, i genuinely struggled to see him getting inside on Max and thought Max was a bad matchup too. Other than maybe Ricardo Lamas, theres not alot of fights left at featherweight that interest me for Edgar.... Hes always said he could make the cut to bantamweight no worries so why not drop down and be one of the bigger guys in his weight class for once and make a run at that title. There would still be alot of big fights for him there in Cruz, Cody, TJ etc.

Thoughts?

He will probably need to win another fight to get a shot at Max/Ortega... in a division that is only getter bigger and fiercer. At 135, he has fights there against some shop worn guys on the top of the division. Dom is similarly weathered (as Frankie), TJ is younger but he's been through wars, Cody is young, but more beathable than an Ortega or Holloway.

Yes, he needs to move down.

He'll drop down to being a sturdy gatekeeper for the division

Frankie is the legit #4 at FW.

I don't see him beating the top 2 or at BW so he'd be in the same situation. He's too small. He's going to run into the same problems and be the same rank.

He needs to go to 125.

I’d like to see him against Barao for his first fight at 135.

No.... Finish off your career in FW- beat up some top 15 fighters... not sure how many fights left on his contract.... Frankie's chin has officially been cracked. At 36 it's no time to risk your long term health. He's been in the Cage longer than any other human. Fight time and age catches up with everyone.

I agree Frankie should go to 135. Barring an injury, I think the door at 145 has closed

I can't tell if this is a joke or sarcasm or what..the former lightweight champ who has only lost to two people at fw should go all the way down to 125? seriously? On one hand, Ortega did come into the damn fight 19 lbs heavier than weigh in, so most of these guys really should be going up..but at this point, what's the point of Frankie going down any further? Just to try and get a belt? If the size thing is really a problem, everybody but Brian & Max should go down..because the rest of the guys can't even beat Frankie or Jose.

I think the cut to 135 would drain him. He does cut weight to make 145.

frankie vs dominick cruz is the fight to make.

I agree. He should drop down and have a couple fights down there before he retires. I want to see him at 135lbs at least once just to see him against guys closer to his size.

Frankie vs. Cruz is great because they both have great legacies, and despite both coming off of losses, they're both still elite and near the top of the division. Plus that fight doesn't hold anything up in the division.

He doesn't cut much water weight. He was 154lbs a week before fighting Ortega. Cruz and Moraes both weigh around that much.

Edgar being Edgar would probably diet down to 150 or even less and then cut from there. He'd fit right in at BW.

He looks pretty dried out to me at 145 weigh ins but he's a pro and he'd def make weight so you're def right..just don't want him looking like death like when conor makes 145.

I don’t think moving down will help.

I thought he was already slower and past it when he fought the Aldo rematch.

He can still compete but I think his elite days are behind him.
Great career no matter what he does from here on...just like Fedor, GSP, MM, BJ, Hughes, Big Nog, Chuck, etc. Frankie is part of the club.

I'd like to see Edgar and Cruz play tag for 25 minutes.

Frankie, like fellow new jersey product Matt Serra, really loves pasta and doesn't enjoy weight cutting.

I don't see him dropping down to 135

He's probably only got a few fights left in him anyways. I'd love to see him try 135lbs once or twice. I'm tired of seeing frankie look tiny in comparison to his opponent.

Don't you think he has done enough dropping for one weekend?
