A bit of old news, but I thought it's interesting. There's a clip floating around with Frank Mir calling himself "Frank Murrr" for his UFC debut against Spider Traven, the same way Lesnar used to pronounce it, and people used to wonder why:

Well, turns out Mir has been on a post-USADA depression podcast binge, and he just explained the Murr pronunciation on one of them (warning: emo):

"I've trained in Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, AND striking!"

Ah, the old days.

Frank Murr has better ground game, but Frank Mir has far superior stand up. Frank Mir by KO rnd1.

No a funny story, Frank, a pathetic one. But, it makes sense.
He should just call himself 'mud'.
"My name is Frank Mud."

Do people still not realize that Francisco Miranda is the man's real name, and that "Frank Mir" is essentially a stage name?

He said in the same podcast that his family name had been Mir for generations though, it wasn't shortened from Miranda.

Where does he say that? Because his full name is Francisco Santos Miranda the third
