Frank Bruno not a believer in Usyk: he wouldn't make it in my era

Degenerate Don had been ended after his prospect had promised to kill Nigel. In exchange prospekts had get disability. This one real life.

Look on my prospect star, he is undefeated! Don King.

The thing about Merchant is that he has seen a shit ton of fights. Bet you he has seen more than anyone in here. So he obviously picked upp stuff just from that.

I may be confusing him with another commentator but Im pretty sure its Merchant who was the guy with massive references. It was not Jim or Foreman
he's old as fuck so of course he's seen more. He was also in the business to get paid to watch. Inspite of what we think of his as a commentator, he was good enough as a writer to make a living doing that for years before he commentated. Smart, erudite, educated and old school, I'm sure his heroes include guys like Mailer or Hemingway which would influence his wacky homilies post fight. I like it, most didn't. But honestly, most commentators are not liked by the listeners, name one that's really liked by over 70 percent of a listening audience. They all get hate, they all have to back track on some shit they said or get fired and they all cause problems. Merchant began to not give a fuck sometime in the 90's, he'd talk shit about Delahoya dancing with a mariachi band and the mexican fans would go nuts, he'd apologize and go from there. He was right about that and he wasn't being racist but people are so stupid they'll hang the racist word on anyone for anything. He was just calling out the pandering that Oscar was doing to the mexican fans.

ok

He said he's "not a believer in Usyk, and he wouldnt make it in my era"

How much more disrespectful do you have to be?
That's just TS paraphrasing. Frank never actually said that he "isn't a believer in Usyk" or that "he wouldn't make it in my era." He just said he wouldn't have done as well. Either way, the guy sounds salty. I think it's because Usyk's beaten so many Brits. I believe he's friends with Fury so that's probably part of it too.

Larry Merchant just turned 94 so yeah he's been watching this sport as long as anyone still alive today. He attended his first boxing match in the 1940s. That was long before any of us were born.

that's all it is, the brits are nationalistic like we are, in fact, the first time I saw that vid, i didn't think that would be his subject, i thought he'd be another brit claiming fury was robbed. He took it another direction.

It's kind of strange though because Usyk's biggest fan base is in the UK. They have almost twice as many people over there than the Ukraine. When he fought Fury many of them were actually rooting for Usyk.

dunno, could be because most of the interviewees are people on the inside of the sport in some way, not the proletariat. Other boxers and the media might feel different and have a difference in perspective than the common folk. US Media is always favored towards the american or the big star. It's often surprising what goes on at the grassroots, we see it in politics sometimes.

I could see fury alienating a ton of people, he did me, with all his problems and shortcomings. His gypsy background might play into it too some.

He lost me as a fan too with all of the shenanigans. Deliberately wasting the fans' time and entering into negotiations in bad faith. Giving his opponents the runaround. Playing games. Fury's a twat and I'm glad that he isn't our problem anymore.

Brits are worse than you guys when it comes to bias.

I would say brits are the worst when it comes to bias nationalism in sports.

Like take soccer, they have said that they are going to win the world championship every single time and dudes are tattooing the year on their shoulder with England.

And in MMA holy shit are they overhyping that Askren lookalike

And I say Askren lookalike because they have the same dork aura. Not so much appearence..

I love hearing Bisping hyping Aspinalls punches!!

Look at that mans hand speed!!

He throws (shitty) arm punches when Bisping says that, of course they are going to be fast

I couldn't disagree more. Aspinall is very talented and looks to be the real deal. He does have the fastest hands in the UFC's heavyweight division even though he doesn't fully commit to his shots (with his size he doesn't need to). I think his 1-2 is impressive especially for an MMA fighter. He's such a fast starter and strong finisher as well. Aspinall is one of the most dangerous heavyweights to ever compete in the octagon.

He's also easily hittable. His power is very good. His punches can be quite good.

but he gets hit by absolute bums then returns the favor and wins in a few seconds

He's athletic and when he needs to move his head and/or feet he's capable of doing it. That much he's already shown. If this guy is viewed as more hype than substance then how come Jon Jones hasn't fought him yet? We keep hearing that it'll be made but Jones has shied away from Aspinall. He wants a king's ransom to fight him and has even talked about vacating the full UFC title if he had to.

I think its partly due to the Fury vs AJ fanboy wars, and the wider Eddie vs Frank, Matchroom vs Queensberry stuff. Fury and AJ are polarising figures there in more recent times, definitely not universally liked.

Plus Usyk is just a likeable dude and through fighting in the UK and fighting big British names repeatedly hes raised his profile there to the point of being practically a household name himself.

In a parallel universe Wilder started fighting in the UK after the Fury losses and ended up being adopted by the UK fans and filling a Chisora type role there.

Usyk has definitely raised his profile in the UK over the last 7 years or so from the time he fought Bellew. He can actually sell PPVs over there. We could go back even further. He won his Olympic gold medal in London in 2012.

In case you don't know, Jones is phobic about fighting big punchers.

He's fought several dangerous punchers in his career. At heavyweight he's only had a couple fights (an old Stipe & Gane) but in that division any of them are capable of knocking their opponents out. It's the big boy division. Aspinall is the interim champ so he's expected to unify with him. If not then he needs to vacate the UFC heavyweight title.

No, only Rampage was a bomber. And he had nigthmares about him. Never fought Rumble, waited Ngannou out. Etc...
