  • Born and raised in poverty, had to perform grueling work in a sand mine as a kid
  • Dreamt of being a boxer, which was never going to happen in Cameroon
  • Made the jump to escape his surroundings by crossing the Mediterranean in a little boat, getting sent back multiple times
  • Somehow made it to Paris, ended up homeless, started training MMA very late in regards to age and so has way less time to get good at the different martial arts, let alone good enough to be at the top level in the UFC
  • Knocks out just about every single motherfucker out they put in front of him
  • Lost his first title fight to one of the greatest HWs of all time if not arguably the greatest in Stipe Miocic, learns his lesson, improves his wrestling AND striking tremendously, wins the rematch in dominant yet patient fashion
  • Gets into a contract dispute which leads to Dana White in typical petty fashion creating an interim HW title fight just 4 months after he beat Stipe, disrespecting him in the process
  • Former coach trying to stir shit and playing mental warfare which is happily picked up by the media, further increasing the pressure
  • Hurts his knees allegedly tearing his ligaments, doesn't pull out of the fight, adjusts his gameplan mid-fight to suddenly dominate his greatest stylistic challenge opponent on the ground (which nobody knew he was able to do), grinds out an unanimous decision
  • Forces Dana White to run away from the presser to avoid answering questions about fighter pay/the contract dispute in which Francis now has all the power
  • Will either submit Dana White to justifyably increase his paycheck OR become a free agent setting himself up for a big payday in his childhood dream in boxing

He's actually pretty good. Jones would win that fight though.

He's actually incredibly good, one of the most amazing talents to grace the Octagon. I think Jones would win that fight though.
Fixed it .

Agree beating Gane in a style so far out of his wheelhouse shows just how great he is.
Exactly it was amazing honestly . I mean who would've thought he'd adjust his gameplan like that halfway through the fight ?insane, great corner too they gave Francis expert advice.
It was very close though . I hope Francis gets resigned, cucks Dana so hard he gets him to promote a boxing fight with Top Rank against Fury, Gane fights Blaydes and wins and then we get the rematch early next year .
Inshallah

He always surprises us. He rose from the first Stipe and BB fights like I couldn't imagine. Hell maybe it's time for a BB rematch

But it's his time tonight. I'm not gonna say he fought safe, fight didn't deliver, etc. He took down someone who hasn't been taken down. Don't give me crap about Gane's past opponents, Gane was the man going into this. Francis surprised me again with his tactics and control. He's the best as far as I'm concerned

This is brilliant

Ngannou is pure class..

Coolest dude, he is literally the biggest underdog in the history of the UFC, and maybe even combat sports.

He came from one of the poorest places on earth (development indicators for Cameroon are extremely low) crossed the sahara, and crossed an ocean seven times on a pool floatie.. only then to live on the streets to pursue his dreams!

He's also super down to earth.. this guy is the real deal

Does it though? Both guys looked very poor on the ground. He is a great fighter no doubt, but he just looked like the strongest amateur in the cage rather than crediting it as an example of his greatness.

Let's slow down. He's extremely dangerous with those hands and is capable of stopping anyone but his title defenses will be criticized because from here on out, HW gets very thin.

Yap, watched his docu yesterday. That's one out of a million right there. Literally.

He certainly wasn't sir.
I thought he fought a smart fight, even though it wasn't the usual fireworks...he showed a new wrinkle in his game.
Like

I liked that he had enough confidence to incorporate that . He was getting flummoxed and was getting outpointed so he attacked the biggest question mark in Gane's game and Gane Flopped hard.

Did to Gane what Stipe did to him, and did it well.
Lost the first 2, and won 3 straight rounds to keep the title.

Gane should've had an answer, but he didn't.
