France: Windows 10 collects 'excessive personal data

Are lawmakers too busy accepting bribes to protect the general public from this menace to society?

You can download a packet sniffer called WireShark and actually see every packet being sent to MS. If you look at the size of the packets being sent it's not very much data at all. Regardless, it's still impossible to know what's being sent out. At this point I already use google and facebook so I don't care if MS has some of my personal information either. If people are that paranoid then switch to Ubuntu.

This shit needs to be illegal. Law makers need to step it up.

They offer you an upgrade for no money, you really think they are not spying the fuck out of you? They gotta pay for that shit somehow.

Welcome to modern computing, either use Linux or quit complaining imo

Appalling that lawmakers everywhere don't sanction this kind of behavior more strictly.

I'm OK if google tracks what you looked for and Facebook storing your photos and statuses. But Facebook keeping track of you even if you're not on their site, if you fail to log out? Still not sure how this is allowed.

Glad that EU is taking a stand on this. It's not much, but it still counts.

Yep, that is why I declined my "free" upgrade. No thanks fuckers.

When something is free, you're the product.

Hopefully someday they'll be forced to quit doing that shit.

Demographic, login, and banking info all only needs to be mere kilobytes.

Not long ago, I made a thread when my legit work expensive software was caught by my antivirus software attempting to take a screenshot when it asked for my IP address due to switching partitions subsequent to original installation.

That should be illegal too. What if I didn't have that antivirus software and it took and sent screenshots and I had naked wallpaper on or other secret stuff on the screens?

Lawmakers have no right to act all superior and shit if they can't get their heads out of their asses and protect the public's privacy.

I'm betting a lot of the people complaining about this and saying the government should do something are also the people who complain about big government. Look, if you have a problem with it, just use Linux like someone else said.
