"He was a pretty good player for us and if I remember correctly he got top scorer for us one of the years, for our Saturday side," Glennon said.

Although McGregor clearly had a knack for goal scoring, the spectacle of Saturday football for Yellowstone Celtic was a far cry from the bright lights of the UFC.

"I'd say most weeks we'd have had about five people, a dog and a man with an umbrella at our matches. He was always a bit more interested in MMA, but he would have certainly been one of the fittest on the team. I think he played for a year, maybe two, just before we broke up the Saturday side. The first year he was generally down with us all year, but in the second, you'd be lucky to get him in once a week, because he got more into the MMA."

He made the right move. Making it in football is like lottery odds. Every single male kid wants to be a footballer in every continent bar North America.

Aldos whole team would fucking beat Mcgregors team in a soccer match.

It was probably an easy choice, playing for a bumfuck regional team as an adult means that the game is basically already up.

Not really surprising. He's clearly a talented athlete and that's a low level amateur football club. Even if they don't switch sports, talented athletes don't play in teams like that for very long.

I'll just leave this here.
War Nigel de Jong.

You'll be hard pressed to find a kid in the likes of Ireland that isn't into football.

Now McGregor is a top player of touch butt in the park. Thanks man bun guy. You helped me prepare for my fight against Nate Diaz in no way shape or form!

A huge exaggeration. Most kids don't want to "be a footballer." Quite many do, though.

So a decently athletic guy was one of the better players on his local soccer team as a kid and eventually got into something else?

Take into account that the Irish standards for a great footballer are very low ... they had 1 or 2 slightly above average footballers in theyre entire soccer history ... they basickly suck at soccer ... and they love it ... which makes it even worse.
In a soccer game Aldo would kick Conor´s ass with his left foot only

True. I've never heard of that team before. But I'd assume they'd be the same standard as the teams that play on the Hackney Marshes.

You can tell a teams low level when they have "a saturday team"
Next step is the Sunday team...

Basically anyone can plan for a sunday team as long as you have something resembling footwear and are relatively sober from the night before.
