Forbes On UFC's New TV Deal

Very interesting indeed. I guess it being on Forbes makes it more believable too.

Forbes went to the shitter a long time ago.

Its no different to the daily mail or any gossip magazine.

forbes make this rumor more credible but why i feel this roster split between 2 networks is kinda like a strategy vinny Mac would do. I don't know the benefit of this besides less ppv and a good build up but, i think this is like a way to reduce costs in ppv marketing given the amount of fight cancellations and the McG fiasco.

This deal would be terrible for the sport, if its like boxing. Showtime fighters already have it harder fighting HBO fighters etc and if these TV channels are getting exclusive fighters, what's to say that doesnt happen? I know its under the UFC banner but we know theyre trying to recoup money and would let this slide.

Imagine Ngannou is NBC and Cain is ESPN. None of these channels would want the fight NOT happening on their channel and force the fighters to not fight.

I agree somewhat but also part of this is the contract that fighters sign with the UFC. This is likely similar to the NFL has with network TV in a much smaller scale.

Well the article says the deal is set up so it could happen on ppv. The fighters would be exclusive to the networks "outside of ppv".

I guess some fighters have built in excuses to duck other fighters if this turn out to be the case. Not every fighter is going to be exclusive but some big matchups would probably be thwarted.

forbes is fake news

mystic ul is real news

the ufc is dying
send it to channel 5

This two networks thingy sounds like they're gonna TUF the whole UFC roster.

I wouldn't be surprised after the retarded Rebook deal.

<{dayum}>

Well not every big fight is gonna be on PPV. Some stars arent big enough to headline PPVs but are big enough that the audience know of them and would draw ratings etc.

What if two fighters here have signed exclusive rights to each one of the channels. Fights would probably be more difficult to make as each channel would want the fight to happen on their channel.

So, is Team Conor or Team Khabib gonna be the nWo of the UFC?

Just like the old wwe brand split taking another page out of the book of vince

This is what the WWF did when they purchased WCW and ECW. It failed horribly.

Any chance splitting the rosters means one network gets 155 down and the other gets the higher weight classes?

I like this line

According to the rumor, it would be each network's responsibility to brand and promote the fighters under their umbrella. I'm not sure I believe the UFC would drop all promotional responsibilities, but I certainly think it's a good idea. I've been saying for well over a year there needs to be a third-party with a vested interest in the success of individual fighters to take on the task of promoting the talent.

The UFC would drop promotional duties, and give up production. Ari could just fire everyone and collect tv checks. What a biz.

I think that the UFC will split into a streaming site(Amazon Prime Video) and a network of some sort. Given all the content, it really makes sense for a streaming site to have some of it.
