The critically acclaimed BBC series Planet Earth will be coming out with Part 2. Anticipated to follow the same format as the beloved original series of multiple one hour episodes exploring areas such as: Deserts; Grasslands; Jungle and so on; and for those wondering, yes, David Attenborough will be the soothing voice guiding us through these worlds and how animals live in them.
The new series will be taking advantage of new technologies available, including being shot completely in 4k UHD. If you remember back, the original series caused a spike in sales of HD TV's and also, unfortunately for some of us (
) also suckered us into buying HD DVD players. PE:2 will also be using a lot of drone technology for the aerial views to give viewers access into areas like never seen before as well new camera stabilizing equipment and remote recording: All designed to "allow viewers to experience the wilderness as if you were there".
BBC has yet to confirm a release date but says it will happen towards the end of the year and to expect “the most immersive wildlife documentary experience to date”.
