I thought I'd post this thread here to see what most MMA fans on this site think will win in this upcoming saturday bout between Canelo and Crawford?

What say you?

Boxing is my base, but I haven't watched enough lately and not all their latest fights fully.

Crawford jumps 2 divisions and will be 38 just days after the fight.
He should be too light.
He should be too old.
That's majorly past prime against Canelo who is at the end of his prime at 35.
Yes, Canelo has 67 pro fights, but he turned pro at age 15, after a short amateur career.

Crawford actually is taller and has more reach.
I'd say he is the better boxer also.

Those are crazy facts, which make the fight very hard to predict.

Crawford is a sizeable underdog. I would've went with him, if he were 3 years younger. He just has so many tools.
But at that age, it's hard to go with him.

Very good breakdown, thanks.

Canelo by decision.

Both are elite elite boxers. They respect eachothers skills so I suspect neither will take huge risks. Both are defensively sound.

All of this points to a fairly close and competitive sparring session, in which case the bigger man with a little more tread on the tires (35v 37 almost 38) who is a bigger draw and has more potential income he can generate will get the decision.

Personally I think Bud is a technically better boxer.

Canelo is very fundamentally sound and knows very well how to keep himself safe and guarded.

It goes the distance in a coin flip and that coin goes to the guy who makes more money and sells more tickets/ppvs.

I can see Bud having success landing the left hook/shovel hook/uppercut out of southpaw stance by finding the timing ot placement to split Canelos guard due to mirror stances favoring rear hand shots.

I expect to see Canelo have more success inside so if he can force a "fight in a phonebooth" that will be favorable to him but Crawford will know to expect this and I see him using angles and distance to stay outside. His ability to fight out of both stances will help him avoid being cut off or trapped in the corners, but he will need to spend time "on his bicycle" to do this. He is a professional and looks to be in tremendous shape so I doubt he gets tired. (Also I don't see Canelo trying to push a pace wnough to tire out Bud)

I would LOVE to be wrong about this but I don't expect to see either man on the canvas. I could see Crawford landing clean but Canelo has a granite chin and I think even if he is caught he will be able to eat it. And his posture and tendency to stay in his shell and keep his chin tucked, along with not over extending or swinging wild will mean he won't be caught while off balance or with his chin up.

I'm going with Crawford. But I don't really watch boxing so my prediction has a high chance of being wrong. I keep hearing Canelo is washed.

There's much more to it than age.

Canelo is 3 years younger, but Crawford is undeniably the fresher fighter. Mileage is at least as important as age, and Canelo has been looking quite high mileage and shopworn since the Bivol fight.

He had a competitive-ish 12 round fight against a relative bum in Berlanga, who in his very next fight got absolutely destroyed by a fairly average fighter at world level in Shiraz.

Meanwhile Crawford had a career best performance 2 fights ago.

I see it the opposite way you do. 4 fights ago I would have confidently picked Canelo, now I see it as close to 50/50.

i posted my take in the boxing forum but i think Canelo by decision. veeerry small chance for a late Canelo stoppage (after round 8), to the body. Crawford's chin is solid so i dont think Canelo's KO-ing him to the head; it would have to be to the body.

Canelo has a very "judge friendly" style. as others have mentioned in this thread, Canelo is a cash cow. he's the biggest name in boxing. so if it goes to a decision, i cant see the fight going any other way., unless Crawford is able to pull off a Mayweather-style performance on Canelo and pull far ahead on the scorecards.

something like 117-111 or 116-112 Canelo is my prediction.

Going with Alvarez via decision…

Crawford looked like he couldn’t hurt a fly against Madrimov, and Alvarez is much bigger than Madrimov is…

lotta people giving crawford a pretty good shot. however would not bet against canelo.

Shouldn't be posting this boxing garbage here in the MMA forum just because Dana is promoting it.

Dana was also promoting that Jelly Bean girl who takes dick for a living, but we don't post threads about her in here.

If it was prime Canelo I'd take him for sure but Canelo peaked in 2018 and in 2025 hes beatable by a high level fighter who's hungry and in their prime. May the best man win.
Crawford is still in excellent shape but at almost 38 years old he has to have declined to some degree, add the jump in weight classes to it, Canelo is the younger fighter and more used to 168lbs, they are about the same size, but one of them has been this heavy for longer.

Crawford views this purely as a cash out fight. He's just going to go through the motions I predict.
