I think Mas was in a different spot. He clearly wasn't the fighter he used to be and was old for the weight class. 4 losses in a row he was close to being cut anyway by UFC despite his contract. I think he jumped before pushed. The UFC might have given him 1 more retirement fight.

Jones is pretty much in the prime for HW's and is winning. Also earns a hell of a lot more than Mas and pretty much doesn't have to do insane cuts anymore. He must also feel unbeatable after Gane who pretty everyone thought was the hardest fight he could take in the UFC (since Francis left).

The burns fight wasnt terrible to watch. Silva stopped being fun to watch like a decade ago.

There is no real money fight after Stipe. Maybe if Izzy gains weight and they can meet at HW. They hate each other enough to do it.

I imagine Mas signed that contract with the full view of fighting Jake Paul.

I'd be a little bit surprised if that isn't in the contract, considering Paul is the client of a UFC guy who seems to fight nothing but UFC guys.

I hear what you're saying TS, albeit it unfortunately. Imagine a parallel universe where Champs fight up and coming contenders in a stale division where the Old Guard are getting pretty damn Dusty. Also, if there is a single human being in the history of the world who did not need to be protected, it could be Jon Jones.
 
Just because Jones signed an 8 fight contract, doesn't mean Jones is going to fulfill the contract. I just hope that Jones wants to still fight after the Stipe fight, if that gets inked (which I am sure it does).

I would love to see Jones face Pavlovich, Blaydes and Aspinall, heck maybe even Volkov then right off into the sunset.

That is what I wish for. I want to see more than 2 fights at HW for Jones. I am sure we all do.
