For all you that think boxing is on the decline and MMA on the rise...

You're gonna include Kell Brook and Chris Colbert on your list, but exclude Canelo and GGG? Interesting.

I think its because those are obvious names even for people who don't follow boxing to say. Its too easy.

Who cares about this? Can't some of you like one sport without shitting on the other? Bunch of little children saying "my dad can beat your dad".

The fact that overeem can't be on a ppv cause he doesn't generate the numbers of cm punk should tell you about mma. And it wasn't even against a good opponent
Take this shit to the boxing forum where any fucking thread talking about that sport belongs.

This argument adds nothing to the conversation and, next to the creation of this thread, only shows how butthurt you are regarding the state of boxing.

For the record: I myself do know who those guys are, I watch and enjoy their fights, and I do not condone sucker punching old men in bars.

You make so much effort to post the Conor gifs and as far as this thread goes, Dana started talking shit first and people here are easily brainwashed. If you know who those guys are then why are you disrespecting them?

Lots of people who are general fans of sports know the names I mentioned. People love boxing, they love the training and enjoy the fitness benefit of it and the fact that boxing gyms are much more affordable draws people in for a workout and from there, they become fans.

One of the best fighters in the world just fought on ppv against a quality opponent this past Saturday.

How many buys do you imagine it got?

Lately another bullshit statement came out of Danas mouth and this thread will set things right. Same guy who let CM Punk fight in the UFC because they were desperate while Logan has legit wrestling and athletic ability behind his fame.

Regarding boxing:

Currently these guys in boxing are on the rise, the first two names are on a slight decline but still hold great power and the rest are great champions that are relevant to the sport.

Adrien Broner
Kell Brook
Errol Spence
Devin Haney
Gervonta Davis
Chris Colbert
Terrence Crawford
Tyson Fury
Deontay wilder
Anthony Joshua
Lomachenko
Teofimo Lopez

I don't watch a lot of boxing, but I watched the Lomachenko vs Lopez card.
On the undercard there was a fighter who seems extremely promising named Edgar Berlanga. 15-0, 15 first round KOs.

Except there are more mma gyms in the states.

I love boxing. And there’s obviously room for both sports.

Right on, there are tons of guys in boxing that do well and show promise.

Its a great sport because it is accessible and I know many folks who fall in love with stand up fighting and often times its boxing.

I agree but the thing is the quality, most MMA gyms cater towards making money and not champions. I mean its super pricy and people hate me for saying this but the structure of MMA gyms are not the best to learn MMA. Its best to learn and master a single craft with a dedicated trainer/team in a hole in wall gym and then fight MMA.

Most MMA gyms are very recreational from what I have seen. Of course not all but not every gym is an AKA and most fighters of all combat sports benefit well with being able to develop their own style and skillset with a trainer who serves as a mentor as oppose to being stuffed in a room full of people who mindlessly hit the bag and pads.

But never the less, room for both sports but for Dana to disparage boxing every chance he gets annoys the shit out of me.

Pretty sweet Edgar Berlanga HL I found:

i think it depends. dana wouldn't say anything bad about tyson. and he is a fan.

but there are some people in the sport that he will of course go after, and will take opportunities when he can. as will boxing promoters.

boxing gyms aren't exactly all known for producing great fighters either. but agree, mma gyms typically are built around learning individual arts in a group setting and move over to fight gyms when they are ready. some treat it more seriously than others and some don't care about their students.

I don’t consider Broner on the rise. He may have name recognition but I don’t consider even remotely relevant anymore. He’s more of an example of wasted talent.

That's a good point, the best guys are often mentored by a great trainer who takes them gym to gym to spar other guys. That's why Floyd was blessed with his father and uncles who were his mentors. Often times gym owners may not be great trainers and the students become neglected. Of course if you are not Floyd its best to find ways to make money so that you can afford to have a great trainer mentor you.

Class setting is a bit dodgy for me because fighting skills require reflection of ones ability to exert themselves. A gym that does classes has everyone do the same thing and the student doesnt get to experience the eurka moment of getting the moves down because everything is go go go as oppose to really understanding the moves down.

Is that Logan Paul? Boxing is boring as fuck!!! Except the main event.

Well I'm saying its possible it reached it cause of spence being in the car wreck

You think that made more people buy the PPV?

Id say that would have absolutely no input in making people change their minds about buying a PPV.

Boxing is boring and garbage one dimensional sport.

They’re lucky that MMA orgs didn’t exist in the 1950s or else, they would be irrelevant and all their stars would be UFC legends.

Of course it does. Makes people more invested since it has a story behind it. Does he still have what it takes?
