Just wanted to remind all these new youngsters that Max came from the streets to become an HBO boxing success story , keeps it real and calls it like it is

Damn, I'ts actually not bad.

huh, I thought everyone knew about Sam and Max. Pretty tragic story, you guys should google it.

Sam made two mistakes: 1) Letting a total psychopath live in his house, 2) not knowing the guy is a psychopath.

From Max's wiki-

Born on November 24, 1974, Sam Kellerman grew up in Manhattan while attending Stuyvesant High School. He was fifteen months younger than Max, and the 2nd of the four brothers in the Kellerman family. As an aspiring young artist, Kellerman wrote a play called The Man Who Hated Shakespeare and hosted a public-access cable-television show. On October 17, 2004, Sam Kellerman's body was found inside his apartment in the 1400 block of Vista Street in Los Angeles. As a result of the ensuing investigation, former boxer James Butler was arrested and charged with Sam's murder. He later confessed to the murder and was given a 29-year sentence.[12]

Sam Kellerman was 29 years old. In speaking about his brother, Max Kellerman recalls that "[Sam] was a creative genius... He was the best writer for his age I've ever read. I used to tell him, 'I'll always be able to get someone to pay me for talking, and you'll always be able to get someone to pay you for writing.' When it came to writing, I felt like Salieri to Sam's Mozart. Sam wanted to direct film, but I think he was fated to write and be in front of the camera. He was starting to get work as an actor. He was in several national commercials. And acting wasn't even what he did best. Sam was a sure thing. It was just a matter of time before he made it big.

This is James Butler-

wow, that's tragic. I like Max. I know people give him a lot of shit, but he always seems like a good dude and he's not a terrible commentator.

Killing a guy with a hammer and burning his house down got him " only " 29 years ? ridiculous .

Especially with a well documented prior.

How do they come up with such an obscure number like 29 years?

Anyway thanks for posting. I didn't know any of this about him. Maybe I haven't been watching boxing for long enough but I like him as a commentator. Maybe its because I'm use to crap ones like Mike Goldberg.

I like Max, I know a lot of people don't, but he's cool in my book. I watch him on Sports Nation and he's a lot funnier than you would expect just seeing him on hbo. Also gotta feel for him, I have two brothers can't imagine one of them passing that young let alone getting brutally murdered by a psycho like that. They should put that fucking animal down, guy is a waste of space and a known pos even before he killed Sam.

James Butler is such a scumbag piece of shit, hope he gets raped and gets aids.

I like Max when he's not in salesman mode. He knows the sport pretty well, no doubt.

He does a daily radio show in LA with Marcellus. They were doing that before Sports Nation actually, you should check it out. Max and Marcellus, the podcast is on iTunes.

Max is good but repeats the same shit a lot and dick rides RJ.

On their radio show Max and Marcellus they had The Game on a few years back. Marcellus played this and asked Game to say what he thought of Max's rapping skills. He starts off saying "well uh he did ride the beat pretty well I was feeling him for a minute..." But then just said fuck it and tore Max a new one.

There's also an episode with Keeshawn Johnson that is pretty epic. Max disagrees with Keeshawn and refuses to back down, it pretty much escalates into shit talking where Keeshawn tells Max he could beat him in any sport including boxing and challenges him to a fight.

lets be honest here..Max is a way better rapper than Roy Jones.
