Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor PBP (Discussion)

Floyd bringing out his Mexican style in his retirement fight. Now can we please end this conor has cardio talk lol.

Great fight by both. Mcgregor did surprisingly well at boxing and floyd decided to come out of his shell because his defensive game made it easier for connor to stay in the fight.

I got excited by that bodyshot in the 8th haha and the ref stopped the action for an extended period straight after. Connors little cheap shot didnt help

You need to watch more Floyd Mayweather fights. Floyd sacrifices rounds in order to study an opponents patterns. This is also a chess move where you sacrifice your soldiers in order to end up in a better position.

I train and spar with Tony pep who has fought Floyd and he does that with us as well. Doesn't mean I am winning rounds, it means he is trying to understand my patterns/flaws.

It's time for a real fight now. We all know Rowdy Ronda Rousey would fook Floyd up with her superior skills (Dana said so therefore I believe him). She has good cardio so fatigue in later rounds wouldn't be an issue. Easy work for a "once ever in human history" athlete...I predict Floyd will fall on his face like Bethe Correia in the 1st round

Floyd always takes the first few rounds to study his opponents. Then: easy work, even for a 40 year old after a 2 year layoff.

Mayweather hit him 53% 170-320 on total punches, McGregor hit 26% 111-430 of his, half as much. No McGregor did not out box Mayweather, this isn't MMA slaps don't count.

McGregor did fine, nothing to be ashamed of.
 
Conor did some good things in that fight, but the commentators really helped him along.

They gave him a lot of deserved credit and bit of extra as well. Conor did land his jab a lot but he didn't get that many significant strikes in when you watch the replays. Much of what he landed was slipped or lacked much power. He peppered in bunches but he didn't throw anything hard during those flurries.

Conor had a hard time landing his power left and didn't really swing for the fence very much at all. In an MMA fight Conor usually swings harder without conserving energy that much.

What you're saying makes absolutely zero sense - IN THIS case.

McGregor didn't have a single flaw that Mayweather capitalized on. He gassed by himself. That's it. Mayweather barely pressured him. McGregor just doesn't have a boxer's cardio.

If McGregor could have kept it together and maybe won one more round, he would have beat Floyd.

That fight is a lot closer than you think. You'll see what I mean when you watch it again.

It was not some random guy from the street, it was a guy who is supposed to be a world class combat sports athlete in his prime.

Go watch/train in boxing, many times boxers like Floyd will sacrifice rounds in order to understand an opponents pattern. /


Your the one who needs to study nuances and context. I have trained with Tony Pep, a guy who fought Mayweather and in sparring, he takes rounds off in order to figure out a persons patterns and style. Back then boxers didn't have footage like now a days and so, you need to sacrifice rounds in order to get an idea what the opponent is like as oppose getting sucked in to the momentum of the fight.

sorry dude, no one sacrifices arguably 7 rounds to "study" their opponents, at that point its not strategy its an excuse for losing those rounds. Floyd won the fight but lets not mince words, he looked like shit for the first half. Whether that's his age, his camp, or Connor who the fuck knows but that man lost stock on this fight and that is not debatable.
